Mumsie and I shared a lot of words together, both publicly on this forum and privately via IM. They were very collegial. Actually, it was mostly me trying to incite something in her; and her laughing it off saying, "Oh, that's so cute, Wolfy." To this day, she will always be Vicky Lawrence to me. I would've enjoyed doing the eulogy (to the extent that any eulogy can be "enjoyed") because I would've had a lot to say about Mumsie.

BonJoeV,
I am so very sorry. I have had some experience with the whole "and the world changed" thing, but I cannot imagine the pain of the loss of a partner of 30+ years. I heard the UCLA Basketball coach John Wooden talk about the loss of his wife Nell, and how he started to give up on life. He said he was rescued by his family, and especially his grandkids. I hope you will be able to find solace in good memories of Mumsie and with all of your family, including volleytalk.

I was just going over the IM's I had with Mumsie, she was always such a good sport. What makes it hard for her VT family (all of us) is that she was our "Mother Hen". I would take delight in her admonshment of Wolfgang, Gorf and (R)uffda! but she always did it in a light-hearted way. For the record, she scolded me too but I always listened and respected her, even when she ripped me for calling her beloved Sacramento Kings, the Sacto Queens. She will be missed by all of us.

I went over Mumsie's old IMs and there was one where she said the highlight of her day was giving that "BIK boy" a big-arse whoopin'. There was another one where she said I was her favorite. Really. Came straight from the heart.
(it's okay to have humor in a thread like this...really...it's okay. Mumsie would love it.)
