Larson opted out.

Hampton was unbelievable as a sophomore in high school, then just kinda plateaud. She had a knee injury, but she just hasn't gotten to that elite status, IMO.
Glass is an amazing athlete, but doesn't have the mental toughness. She's one-dimensional.

Did she decide not to go train in Colorado springs this summer?

Who ever thinks that Richards is a candidate is smoking something. I have seen Hampton in Club and College. Good overall player, but not that outstnding that she is going to improve the position. ESTRELLA

Is this true? Or are you blowing smoke? I thought Larson and Stalls, Hampton, Foluke, and Barboza where joining them in mid-June.

Keystone would know. I doubt he's blowing smoke.

Who ever thinks that Richards is a candidate is smoking something. Wasn't Richards playing on bad knees the last two NCAA seasons? If she can get healthy and spend a year or two playing in Poland or Spain, I don't see why she couldn't be an improvement over what the USA is putting on the floor. I wouldn't expect her to become Logan Tom, but if she could become Melena Rosner, Antonella Del Core or Erika Coimbra that would be a tremendous improvement for team USA! Richards would have to be healthy and motivated. I have no idea if she is either at this point.

ESTRELLA I must be smoking somthing good, because I would take a healthy Richards with good knees over Hampton and perhaps Larson anyday! Does anyone remember how well she played her junior year? That girl was having many 25-30 kills per match and is Stanfords all time dig leader. I think that says something with the amount of players that have come through the farm. If you don't think she could help the NT out then perhaps you should start smoking!

Agreed. Also, Logan IMO didn't produce at the 04 games. Wow, tough crowd! I don't know how anyone can say that. What didn't she do in 2004? IIRC (the stats from Athens are no longer on the internet), she was one of the top blockers, diggers and servers in the tournament. She also had to pass half the court and hit high ball after high ball against waiting blocks... She had to do all this at a fairly young age and also pretty inexperienced compared to her opponents. Everyone remembers the loss to the Dominican Republic, but they forget that the other losses were to the gold medalists 3-1, the silver medalists 3-2, and 3-2 to the team that should have won the gold but choked. USA beat the bronze medalists 3-0. It looked to me like LT ran out of gas during the Brazil match. I thought she was pretty good during the others.

IT seems that the Brazilians always come up with a good game plan to stop Tom, she seems to struggle against them When I rewatch that game against Brazil (04) I just do not understand why Haneef was set so often

All they had to do, is serve very tough lines, and then focus on Logan.

Of all the players on Florida's roster, Marcie Hampton has clearly taken her game to a new level this Spring. She is a different player. More focused, in better shape and determined to have a great senior season. She is a complete package, peaking at just the right time.

Agree with everything here. Watching Tom against the Cubans was so much fun. She had two of the prettiest, fast, back row attacks in that match.... blasting aces... blocking. The team and Tom were in top form for that match. True about the Brazilians... I don't think I've ever seen Tom play a good match against them.
I also agree about setting Haneef. While I think Ah Mow is a good setter, I think she tends to get REALLY CONSERVATIVE when things get tight. If I remember correctly, every set in the final game against Russia went to either Tom or Haneef. She may be a good, technical setter, but I think she can be fairly predictable.
I get so sick of hearing about Tom the Diva... or Tom letting the team down. The truth is that team USA has been riding on Tom's back almost since she was in high school. Up until the 04 games, she has pretty much been the top scorer and player for every match of every tournament for team USA for the previous 4-5 years. She missed part of her Junior year to help team USA qualify for the Olympics. She may be a Diva (I have no idea), but you can't deny what she contributed to team USA.
I'll be really dissappointed if Larson doesn't train with Team USA this summer. It may get her some more exposure to international competition.... make her a better player. She is probably one of the few players that could possibly play overseas and make 6 figures$$$. She doesn't need another national championship. Maybe she needs to talk to Stacey Gordon.
