Also interesting, ex-cuban Tai Aguero is set to make her debut playing for Italy this summer. Italy does not play Cuba in the GP preliminaries.

Interesting Roster..... for instance at setter.... no thompson or virtue.... yet sydney anderson who just joined the team is on the roster.
I think it is great that Aguero will be playing international ball again. Odd to think about what roll she would play. She normally plays opposite, but is she better at that position than Togut? She set for Cuba.... would that try to use her in that capacity.... doubt it. Nice dilemma to have I suppose.

No current college players on this list? the Grand Prix starts about the same time college camps start. The World Cup is well into the college season. College players would have to skip a NCAA season to play.

Piccinini, Rinieri, Cardullo, Togut, Centoni, are all left off the GP roster. I'm sure Aguero will play opposite in the GP. I kinda doubt that she will be in the roster for World Cup. If she is on the World Cup roster, I could see her playing the left in place of either Piccinini or Rinieri. She receives reasonably well.

How many players will make the cut? 12 players are active each weekend of the Grand Prix. Active players may change from weekend to weekend like in the men's World League. You don't see it happening as much in the Grand Prix though.

I spioke with agent of some Italian players last week and they are just taking recovery for a few weeks until they again feel refreshed. Aguero will play in diagonal and some in left position.
This USA roster is is one of the many reasons USAV and American volleyball is among the worlds most troubled countries. Only one setter that is capable of playing on this level but she is past the age of 30, Hunter and Thompson are NO WAY near the level of the the worlds best backup or third setters, Scott is also quite old although she is best American middle, and the attackers and diagonal are not able to receive serve. What would be wrong with having young players like Dosty, Murrey, and Klineman playing in this competition. World under 20 is not important tournament.
I hope that Murrey will receive good training I hope that she will not end up like Kristi Porter,Elaine Youngs, or Tee Williams, or Ogonna, great attacking without passing.

I'm with you on most of this! The problem with getting Dosty, Murrey and Klineman isn't so much the U20s as it's the college season. If they were to play in the Grand Prix they would miss a significant chunk of their college season. If they went on to play in the World Cup, they would miss all of the NCAA season. Check this link out - if you changed the question to reflect college and the Grand Prix, I bet you would get the same results: p094.ezboard.com/fprepvolleyballfrm2.showMessage?topicID=19366.topic&pollResults=on

Unfortunately, there really isn't nothing like the NCAAs out there with the rules and regulations, etc. For the most part, kids play on club teams and go from there and if you're tagged from the club teams to play on your National Team, there isn't really any question whether you go or not, unless there are mitigating circumstances. Will the US change it's ways? Not in my lifetime! ;D

I have not seen Anderson, but is she really that great of a setter that merits inclusion into the national team? I know that she has to redshirt due to issue of release from Utah, but is this USAV's way of trying to compensate for her after "supposedly" advising her to ditch Utah for a better collegiate team if she wants to improve her game and have any future with the national team?

Lang Ping has no choice but to take Anderson. Most of the veteran player don't want to play for Ping!
