There are other reasons, but I'm fried now. How about "Tarah Murrey never had any serious interest in UH in the first place." Ruffda was asking in the abstract.

I hope she takes her time and makes the choice that's right for her: a place where she can develop as a player and otherwise, and a place where she can be happy. That said, You know, that sounds a lot like something that Jim McLaughlin would say. So what if dozens of other athletes or coaches would say it? JM would.

I count 5 with Licht, which probably isn't fair. Is the Texas kid (McNeal?) projected as an OH or MB?
I didn't realize Nebraska has no 2009 commitments yet.

As far as Nebraska goes, they have Larson for another year, and Haverly and James (sp?) coming in that I know about, + Mueller is a freshman this year, and anyone else they have recruited and/or is presently on the team, or red-shirting. Getting a little crowded there if Murrey goes to Nebraska.

Considering she has waited this long to make a decision, we can count on the fact that it will be an informed one!

McNeal is slated as MB. Also, Mueller can see time at libero. Even if they are crowded, the competition would be exciting and most likely, Murrey is in the mix as a starter.

Maan, time flies! Just yesterday, I remember Jordan Larson in high school. Yup. I never watched volleyball in high school or college (Holly McPeak, Lisa Arce, and Siena Curci were playing at Cal while I was going there). Then I went to my first HS match in 2004. I asked someone who I should be looking out for, and was told to watch a couple of sisters warming up on the sideline. They were Brittney and Tarah Murrey. I was thinking - did I just find some amazing kid nobody ever heard of? Then I asked around and sort of got a bunch of "yeah - duh" comments, because every college coach on the West Coast with any ambition to recruit well knew who she was.

Here's what I don't understand: why aren't more top West Coast recruits interested in Hawaii? It's not that far or that expensive from there. Too much been there, done that? As much as I hate to say it, here are some drawbacks of the University of Hawaii: 1. Many academic programs are not recognized among the Top programs in the nation. Some programs are seriously deficient. That said, a few programs are highly regarded (e.g., marine biology). 2. Budget problems cause many programs and facilities to be under-funded. 3. It's a commuter school so campus life at UH isn't like campus life at, say, a Big Ten school. 4. Five-hour flight just to get to the nearest location on the mainland. 5. You can't get in your car and go "anywhere". 6. The culture is different from the mainland. 7. Unless you like outdoorsy stuff, there isn't much to do. 8. Bicycle theft is an epidemic. 9. While the volleyball program is great, it plays in the weak WAC and must fly thousands and thousands of miles for WAC matches. 10. For the locals, you're considered a "loser" if you attend UH out of high school. 11. If you want a job in a certain region, it's good to be associated with a school that has a pipeline to those jobs/employers. In the Hawaii region, there aren't that many jobs outside of the tourist service industry. If you're thinking of working on the mainland, better to just go to school in the mainland. There are other reasons, but I'm fried now. (Of course, there are reasons why one SHOULD attend UH.) And the BIG Reason you should attend UH -- Bubbies Ice Cream just off campus on University. Can there be any better ice cream shop in the world? Well, I for one know, it doesn't take long to call the roll.

Maan, time flies! Just yesterday, I remember Jordan Larson in high school. Seems like she was just one of the first really early commits, too. Heck, seems like just yesterday Becky Bauer was a sophomore in high school leading Jefferson to the State Tournament.

Because Nebraska can always use a 6th outside hitter? Oops -- missed the previous posts about NU's OH's thinning out due to graduation. My comments were just redundant, therefore I deleted them in lieu of this post.
