Screw "new blood", screw "what's good for the program"... People don't leave their jobs until: 1. they have a plan for the future, i.e., what am I going to do after this? 2. their financial situation is straightened out. 3. they get fired or laid-off or forced to resign. Most importantly, it's the money. If they need the money, they won't quit their jobs! It's really simple. You think she'll leave coaching for the good of the sport, for the good of the program, for the good of her profession? Get real. If that's the case, 1/3 to half of all coaches in America should resign after this season. Wolfgang, if you knew half as much about volleyball as you have implied over the years, you'd know that this is complete BS as applied to Kathy. (And I think you do know it is BS.) Say what you want about Kathy, she lives and breaths volleyball. She does not do it for money. I think she will keep coaching as long as she believes that she is still capable, and she still has the passion. if she's still thinking she's capable then perhaps there lies the problem.

this board kills me, shouldn't she get a little more credit for the 175 straight NCAA appearances.
Wolfie you are clueless, do a little research on the benefits in the UC system.
KG will and should coach for as long as she wants.

Bizarre. People read into posts way more than they should. I was referring to WHY people leave jobs IN THE ABSTRACT. I stated earlier that I knew nothing about Kathy's financial situation.
And I'm not going to do a little research before I post. This is not a scholarly article where every little statement has to be thoroughly researched and footnoted and every little info fact-checked. It's a message board.
And I'm not even sure why people are getting upset at me. I wasn't even the one advocating Kathy's exit. Far from it.

Hammer - EAST BEACH is Karch's real estate in Santa Barbara, not State...State Beach is a syringe riddled, dirty piece of what was once pristine California coast below the bluffs of Santa Monica.

Where is Emily Hendrickson? She would make a great coach. Haven't heard anything about her since the last home game she played at UCSB, but she said that night that she was hoping to get into Med School and become a doctor.
