I figure someone here can give me some pointers.
I recently bought three of 'em - all were of a light to medium blue pattern. All three are cotton made by/for Kahala although one is labelled as "handcrafted in Malaysia". They were under $20 each at an off-price store.
I tried wearing one to work on a Friday, and a coworker who has family in Hawaii told me I should wear it unbuttoned over a dark T-shirt, or at the very least leave the three top buttons open. I hear they're often worn as business attire tucked in with all buttons closed, sometimes with a tie. Is there a right or a wrong way to wear one? Or is it whatever feels right?

It depends on the circumstance.
For work attire the Aloha shirt should be buttoned completely (except for the collar) and tucked into the pants unless the pants is jeans in which case you would wear the shirt without the tuck.
For casual wear it is okay to leave a couple of buttons loose but I don't know of too many locals who leave their aloha shirts unbuttoned over a black shirt. Most people don't wear an undershirt, they just throw the aloha shirt on. All the guys who wear their aloha shirts unbuttoned usually hold ukulele's in their hands and hang out near the beach.
I don't think I've ever seen someone wearing a tie with an aloha shirt.
Buttoned and tucked in for work.
Some free buttons and not tucked in for play.

Wait a second. You're supposed to wear _pants_ with those things?
Oops.

Wait a second. You're supposed to wear _pants_ with those things? Oops. Well - a Highland soldier never wears underwear under his kilt. Nasty but true.

Is an "Aloha shirt" the same thing as an "Hawaiian shirt"?
Can I wear a kilt with either?
And what's the proper footwear with a kilt?
Where's the best place to buy "Aloha" shirts?

Is an "Aloha shirt" the same thing as an "Hawaiian shirt"? I did some research before buying mine. There seems to be some controversy that a true "Aloha shirt" must actually be made in Hawaii, although some of the Asian imports look pretty much the same. The one I have that's made in Malaysia has coconut shell buttons that are allegedly traditional. That would be interesting. I went to the Holiday Bowl, where a couple of Scottish Cal fans wore nice warm jackets with their kilts. By the end of the game it was 45 degrees and they were still there. Those guys wore normal casual shoes. I bought mine at the off-price clothing store Ross, which apparently doesn't exist in your neck of the woods. I've seen similar stuff at Marshalls, but they weren't the so-called "authentic" ones made in Hawaii.

Fight ON! I think I know what that is (a USC-themed "Hawaiian" shirt), but it's hard to tell what's going on in the print. It looks like an alternating "woody" station wagon design along with what appears to be a stylized Trojan warrior. BTW - that shirt is out of stock. Maybe tonight I'll take a picture of my shirt, and get some opinions as to how stylin' the thing is.

For business you might want to try and keep it as buttoned as possible just to keep it professional. Ties: You really don't need a tie with an aloha shirt. It would probably look weird. Tucked or untucked: Probably tucked in when you're at work. There's no real rule on what kind of pants/shorts you can wear with them--it just depends on what you're doing. Shirt underneath: It's really not necessary unless you want to wear one. Make sure that if you do wear a t-shirt underneath you match it with the color of your aloha shirt. If all else fails, just do what you think looks best. Wearing an aloha shirt shouldn't cause you stress.

Plus - the temps here right now are somewhere in between Minnesota and Hawaii. Oh - here's the pic: Not too tacky is it?

I have enlarged this photo 1000% and focused on the reflection in the doorknob. Having done this, I see that you are none other than Carrot Top and you took this photo wearing a dress.
I think. It's kinda blurry at 1000%.

It's kinda blurry at 1000%. I've got to start editing out the reflections. BTW - the Penn State shirt pic was there only because I couldn't find any suitable Minnesota or even a gopher-themed shirt.
