How does Marquette look this year? I think that Oshkosh will be as good as they want to be. They could contend again for a National Championship if they can get along and just play vball, or they can repeat last years 21 place finish.

Im naive when it comes to the club scene. I'm transferring to Arizona in the fall to be a manager for their womans volleyball team and I want to play on the club team but I really would only want to play if they have a good team. I previously had played at Cal State Northridge on the mens team but am transferring because of a better opportunity. I've heard they have been good in the past but i was wondering how they have been in recent years??

Based on the EIVA North Standings (http://eivavb.com/standings.asp) it looks like Buffalo may be having some trouble early on. Currently, they are 4-2 in division play...
I know Virginia Tech and Maryland are both hosting tournaments out here on the East Coast this weekend...I will provide results when I find them out...

Arizona has always proved to be a good team. Not really sure how they are this year though. Remember to post results to upcoming tournaments in the "Club volleyball results thread"

From what I saw at the MWVC regional, Arizona is a skilled team and will most likely be a top contender this year. They are currently ranked #1 in the MWVC and they have won the last two tournaments in the conference (Utah regional and Desert Thunder.) I posted the results under the "Club Volleyball Results" thread.

They lost to UW-Whitewater in 5 last week

We'll find out a lot tomorrow. www.miva-vball.org/download.cfm/schedule2.pdfSome big matches tomorrow. It's broken down into pools of three pools of 3, 3 times, with 45 minute breaks in between. Tough schedules all around. Lakeland, Oshkosh, Milwaukee, Notre Dame, Marquette, Northern all have good teams. Don't know much about Ball State and Illinois State, but they could surprise. Iowa State might be a wildcard, if they have that opposite from last year who was only a freshman. He's a really good player.

This will be a very good tournament to be at with some of the best club teams in the nation going at it. I am going to try to go but would appreciate an update with commentary on some of the matches just in case I can't make it up to Oshkosh if anyone else is going. Good luck to all the teams playing. ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png) Some early results, there's another few matches, but nothing that looked too exciting: UW-Oshkosh is 6-0 Illinois State University 5-0 Lakeland College 4-2 UW-Milwaukee 3-2 Northern Illinois University 2-3 Iowa State University 2-3 Notre Dame 1-3 Marquette University 0-5 Ball State University 0-5 I will update when I can.

I haven't heard from the Va Tech tournament today, but at Maryland...
Semifinals: Penn State d. Maryland (2-0) Navy d. Delaware (2-0)
Finals: Navy d. Penn State (2-1)
Penn state posted victories over JMU and VT last week at the JMU tournament, Navy lost to JMU last week, but beats Penn State this week...keeping the East interesting for now anyway...

Has navy been strong over recent years? They were pretty solid in the mid-late 90's when they dropped their varsity status but seemed to drop off a bit. Thoughts?

JMU won the Va Tech tournament this weekend beating Va Tech A in the finals 25-19, 21-25, 15-9. Along the way JMU beat all four Tech teams that were in the tournament (Tech A, Tech A-, Tech B and Tech Alum).
Those results from Maryland do make it interesting, Navy is definitely a solid team but they rely on just a couple of players to keep them in their matches. I am surprised PSU wasnt able to stop them. All the divisions in EIVA have play-dates on Feb. 28, wont solve anything but will set up the seedings for EIVA Championships.

BTMVA round robin was last weekend, scores haven't been posted but Ohio State beat Illinois... then lost to Iowa and MSU. Big Ten is looking much stronger than most years, here's the results from what I can remember, 5 and 6 may not be right though.
1. Illinois 2. Michigan state 3. Ohio State 4. Indiana 5. Wisconsin (?) 6. Iowa (?)
