Last time this situation presented itself was in Hawaii when Lewis had an uncontested swing for a 13-9 lead in the rally scoring fifth. They muffed it. The Bruins behind Taliafero and Farmer survive only to take down Roumain and company the next night in three straight. Same situation next weekend? Pepp crushes OSU then goes on to……….. I was at that Lewis-UCLA semifinal. Probably the most thrilling match I've ever seen. Lewis' Rivera was phenomenal that night. Farmer came off the bench for UCLA and had 11 (or was it 12?) straight kills. We were sitting in the stands going, "Oh my god, he's taken 11 swings and is hitting one thousand." But this year doesn't feel the same at all. UCLA is not at the top of their game right now, like they were at the beginning of the season, and Pepp looks formidable. I'm wondering about the UCLA-Penn State matchup (this assumes, of course, that UCLA gets the at-large, which is not a given). UCLA handled Penn State in early March, but it wasn't a blow-out. That one could get interesting.

Are u serious? You have been pro UCLA in every comment you have posted on this board. Regardless of criteria, records, head to head, past 2 months of play leading into playoffs, or playoff performance, Long Beach is clearly the better team between the two. THEREFORE, they deserve the at large and should go to the final four. You have yet to meantion that UCLA lost in the first round of the playoffs against the #7 seed and lbsu made it to the finals Dear numnutz- I'm a Pepperdine fan and could care less who else is in the final. IF YOU COULD READ,you would see that I said "Pepperdine needs to not worry about who is in the final and get their own act together" IF YOU COULD READ, you would see that I said "that neither team will be a picnic for the Waves" IF YOU COULD READ, you would see that in my earlier post that you are quoting I clearly said that "Long Beach is the better team right now". PRO UCLA? IF YOU COULD READ, you would see that I said that "Northridge may have damaged the Bruins mystique at Pauley- LOL." I AM JUST STATING FACTS: The TOP TWO criteria for selection for an at-large berth are RECORD and HEAD TO HEAD. UCLA wins on both counts. You say that none of that matters, because Long Beach is the HOT TEAM. Then why bother to play matches earlier in the year, they don't count according to your skewed "logic". PS- Your "HOT" 49ers just got swept in 3, so get over yourself.
