A and C are clear, B seams to leave alot of room for judgment since no other league has the stregth of schedule of any MPSF team, how would anyone other than 2nd in the MPSF possible justify an at large?

unless Pepperdine loses the tournament, I still think UCLA will get the at-large... Nobody else has a good enough regular season record unfortunately.

Pepperdine is a choker. I think if Long Beach wins against Hawai'i tonight, LB will win the MPSF tournament and the national championship. If Pepperdine wins the MPSF, I think UCLA has a chance to be the at-large (based on the 3 criteria presented by SOBB).

Help me Bob. My 14" vertical and prior professional play in figi kept me out of US College vball so i didn't follow it until a couple of years ago.
Who got overlooked in 1994?

Who got overlooked in 1994? IPFW was hosting and got picked over Stanford after IPFW lost in the MIVA finals against BSU. I don't really remember any other particulars, except, that I though IPFW had beaten Stanford at IPFW earlier in the year. Old news, but they continue to whine about it!

Let's not forget that Mr. Lloy "I just a damn superstar" Ball broke his widdle fwinger in a damn PICKUP BASKETBALL game the weekend before the NCAA Championships, played OH in the semifinal (thus displacing whoever was the incumbent OH that did all the work to get IPFW to that point), and the backup IPFW setter played in his place. And they got absolutely SMOKED in their semifinal loss.

And they (IPFW) got absolutely SMOKED in their semifinal loss. According to my trusty record book, UCLA absolutely destroyed IPFW 15-3, 15-8, 15-4 in the semifinals on IPFW's home court. Would Stanford have given UCLA a slightly tougher match? And UCLA couldn't even beat Penn State for the title that year. A case could be made that IPFW perhaps did not belong in the NCAA Championships that year, but somehow got in because they were hosting.

If Pepperdine takes care of business, UCLA is going to get the at-large bid. No doubt.

IPFW was hosting and got picked over Stanford after IPFW lost in the MIVA finals against BSU. Note that IPFW was hosting. I suspect that this is a factor of some significance this year, too. Meaning, UCLA probably has the edge if Pepperdine wins the MPSF. An interesting scenario would be Long Beach wins MPSF, then beats Pepperdine in the Finals, too. That certainly could happen this year. Alan Knipe is a very good coach. He's going to get a title one of these days, and it could be this year.

I understand that Al Scates will be VALET Parking at Pauley for the FF. Any truth to this story?
UCLA is in regardless, "Honest AL" has all the other coaches and committee members intimidated.
