According to prepvolleyball.com, Hawaii just got a committment from Mita Uiato for 2010. She is a 5'8" setter that plays for Laguna Beach.
For all the Hawaii fans, I've seen her play and she is good. A little undersized but a top notch setter none the less!

What about the whole Megan Moenoa talk? I thought she was supposed to be the real deal setter whose eyes were set on UH? Damn these curve balls...

I was wondering the same thing. Funny, that Uiato goes to Polytechnic HS in Long Beach CA which plays in the same league as Lakewood HS in Lakewood CA where Moenoa goes to school.

With all those vowels in "Uiato" (4 of 5 possible vowels in a 5-letter word, too!), it's very deceptively difficult to pronounce. Leahy is shivering in his boots.

Moenoa is a 2011 recruit. Every program needs at least two setters. So it looks like Hawaii has the next two setters lined up.

In 08 it was the plan to recruit a 2010 setter to replace Brandt. At that time an 09 setter who would be willing to redshirt was considered an option but that didn't happen. Her name is Rainette Uiato and she is a 5'10( not 5'8) setter on Kaela Goodman's Laguna Beach team. Goodman is another Hawai`i 2010 recruit.
More than likely a second setter will be added in 2011 to replace Mafua.

if uiato actually goes to LB poly then that's the same high school team litara kiel attends.
they upset lakewood (ranked #1 in the country in the beginning of their 2008 season) in 5 games.
here is a link to a video on youtube showing kiel, moenoa, and uiato.
must say that they all look pretty good. moenoa has always wanted to come to hawaii because she's always loved the program, but it seems as though she might be having a difficult time leaving california. uiato committing is definitely a curve ball but im glad, IF moenoa doesn't come to hawaii, we'll at least have someone to run our offense.

This is very interesting. I would like to see Moenoa as a Wahine. Uiato and Goodman coming in next year sounds great, very exciting news for Wahine fans. Any news on Croson?

Jane Croson may not commit because there has never been a "Jane" in the history of the Wahine volleyball program.

Any news on Croson? well we're still crossing our fingers on bringing jane aboard. it seems as though players are getting worried about being an 'ocean' away from their family & friends. her number one school, of course is UH, but you never know what might happen in the next year or two. according to prepvolleyball.com i think she was nominated to receive the sophmore vball player of the year. can't wait to see these players in action!!!

How do you know so much about Jane? It seems her decision will be made with her family, yes, the distance is a "rumored" factor but there are many relatives that will be there for Jane IF she chooses to go to UH. There is still time to make her decision and she is keeping her options open.
