That's funny. Most of the things Carter was pushing in the 1970s are now priorities. Too bad we wasted 30 years.

Say what you want about the man, but no President since him has been able to give a speech better.

My fellow citizens -- those of you here in this hall and those of you at home -- I want you to know that I have always had the highest respect for you, for your common sense and intelligence and for your decency. I have always believed in you and in what you could accomplish for yourselves and for others. And whatever else history may say about me when I'm gone, I hope it will record that I appealed to your best hopes, not your worst fears, to your confidence rather than your doubts. My dream is that you will travel the road ahead with liberty's lamp guiding your steps and opportunity's arm steadying your way. My fondest hope for each one of you -- and especially for the young people here -- is that you will love your country, not for her power or wealth, but for her selflessness and her idealism. May each of you have the heart to conceive, the understanding to direct, and the hand to execute works that will make the world a little better for your having been here. Yep. Whatserface could really write well for him. #2 on the list of worst presidents ever. I'm sorry he ended up with AD, but it doesn't change the facts. Look it up.

And you're right - pretty soon we'll be right back up there with 10% unemployment and skyrocketing inflation. Keep on blaming conservatives and GWB for the economy if you want. The truth of the matter is that all the bad stuff happened on the watch of a Democratic Congress.

Say what you want about the man, but no President since him has been able to give a speech better. I never saw it. Always looked and sounded like an old fool to me. But I know I'm in the minority on this. I just never saw the appeal.

Yep, like that Iraq invasion, the giveaway to Big Pharma, torture, arms to Iran, Watergate, dismantling of the EPA and other regulators. I could go on and on, but I won't. We'll never agree on this.

Yep. Whatserface could really write well for him. Noonan didn't write that RNC speech. She did, however, write the "no new taxes" speech in 1988 that ultimately may have caused Bush I his chance for re-election in 1992.

Well, seeing how well-researched and factual your argument is with multiple sources cited and all that, I can't do anything other than agree with you unequivocably, can I?

You sure (about Noonan)? I shouldn't be such a cynic, I know. It was a nice letter.

Which one do you need "research" on? Watergate? Arms to Iran? The Bush admin's policy on torture? The Iraq fiasco? The Afghanistan fiasco? Prescription drugs? The EPA?

I had a friend who worked on Reagans campaign and asked me if I would volunteer to be a driver for the press after he was elected. After getting cleared by the FBI, I got to go to the Reagans house in the Pacific Palisades (very modest house as I recall) and got to meet the President elect and Mrs Reagan. He was very gracious, and while I don't agree with everything he did as President, there was definitely something magnetic about the man as a leader. Half the battle as President is to get people to buy in to whatever your're selling. Reagan had it....Obama has it.....Carter & W.........not so much.

I hope that history is always corrected when the facts come out
When the real story about Pat Tillman came out I thought it was important to revise history to get it correct.
