Great coaches will be great coaches at any level. There is this assumption that the best coaches in the country are coaching college volleyball. While many in fact are, there are a bunch who coach at different levels. Do you think Purdue is happy they hired a HS coach?

Don't believe it's a recruiting hire. Chris told me it was to help out Stanford. Isn't one of their assistants ill and hasn't been in the office on a daily basis? He's a great motivator, has an amazing record at Punahou in both basketball and volleyball. an interesting side note. this is a long-standing agreement between Chris and his wife Beth. After they were married, she ended up playing for the national team. He agreed to it, saying that at some point he might want some time away to do something. Believe this is the time. It may not be a recruiting hire persay, but it's definitely going to help Stanford recruiting in Hawai`i...with McLaughlin at Stanford, there's a good chance that will draw lots of local boys to Stanford, because of the reputation McLaughlin has in the islands... So in actuality it might work out as a recruiting hire. There's a good chance that this hire will draw a lot of Local boys to Stanford??? There are already 7 boys from the islands on Stanford's roster. Chris has already been a recruiting tool for Stanford. This is just a continuance of that relationship.
