Lots of dead Anteaters in the Pyramid tonight. Not the same UCI team that played Long Beach in the first match and Long Beach State is vastly improved from that match. Look out folks, Long Beach is real!

Scores were 30-27, 30-22, 28-30, 30-23 in favor of Long Beach State. Touzinsky records third double-double of season with 12 kills and 11 digs.

This is another surprise to me. Wow...lots of surprises already this week. I guess that puts me at 0-2 already.
Congratulations to Long Beach for pulling off a huge win tonight over UCI.

Did someone predict UCI would "spank" Long Beach....now it is one thing to say UCI would win (like sweetievb) but it is completely different to say "Spank" Shame, shame, shame. Having seen both matches , away and home, the UCI team tonight was not as consistent as they were at Crawford Hall. They were incredible that night. On the other hand, LB was matured quite a bit. The little dumb mistakes that they still make did not bother them as much and they were kept to a minimum.

UCI is not falling apart. They simply couldn't make a serve tonight (28 errors) and when that happens in the MPSF...you are going to lose! ....and by the way UCI outblocked Long Beach. I am not taking credit away from them...I felt like they played a fairly good match and they won. However, I would not go so far as to say, as Surfin' put it "LOOK OUT FOLKS... We're G-E-L-L-I-N-G!!! We looked GRRREAT TONIGHT! Playing MUCH better ball than early season, and that was expected with the new line-up! YA HOO!!!" Seriously....let's not get carried away! It was one win, a big one...it was not the championship! But if you saw asst. coach Andy Reed leading the celebratory mob at the end of the bench between plays, you never would have known it. What a complete embarassment! Way to go Andy... UCI will be just fine and Long Beach will be okay too...The MPSF is way too tough to get all wrapped up in one match...Let's see if the anteaters can rebound tonight against UCSD...I predict a well played match by UCI....they've been pretty resilient.

Whatever makes you feel better. UCI lost to Stanford and Long Beach. They aren't playing good, consistent volleyball and yes their service errors are killing them. They may get luck tonight and beat UCSD but the Bruins will destoy them in 3 Friday night. UCI is not what they were at the beginning of the year. Enough said ;D

I think that UCI will beat UCSD and UCLA this week. It is a tough week for them though - three away matches in the same week with UCLA at the end of it.
Even if you don't like Long Beach, you have to admit that they are making steady improvements. UCI beat them in 3 at their meeting in January. Long Beach isn't playing perfect ball and this may not be their year to make it to the Final Four, but I wouldn't underestimate them either.
