This makes for some interesting possibilities. UCI might have to be careful of Northridge. Also, this can almost take Pepperdine out of the running for the #3 seed. Pepperdine would need to hope that BYU will lose 3 of the next 4 matches to get the third seed. This puts BYU and Hawaii on a crash course for #2 and #3. With the season at the end, how are the coaches going to play that series. Neither team would be in any danger of facing UCI at home. But how much of their hand do they want to show when they could easily meet up against less than 2 weeks later in the MPSF tournament.

Roy, that's what I was saying in the other thread (Long Beach vs. UCI). CSUN is a potent team-- there is no doubt about that. UCI plays them next Wednesday at the Matadome and I know that if they aren't on their game mentally the Eaters could have their hands full.
Whoever is sending the text pages needs to keep posting scores on here from this game!

And here's the story-- CSUN 3 - PEP 0
NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - Dan Rhodes, James Lischer and Brian Waite combined for 39 kills as fourth-ranked Cal State Northridge swept fifth-ranked Pepperdine, 30-22, 30-28, 30-26 in an MPSF men’s volleyball match on Wednesday at The Matadome.
With the win, the Matadors claim their sixth straight victory and improve to 17-8 overall and 12-7 in the MPSF. The loss drops the Waves to 14-7 overall and 13-7 in conference play. The win was also Northridge’s first win over Pepperdine since 2004 and the first time the Matadors have swept the Waves since March of 1994.
Rhodes led the Matadors with 19 kills (.300), while Lischer (.500) and Waite (.444) posted 10 kills apiece. Lischer also added three blocks, including a pair of solo stuffs. Isaac Kneubuhl and Eric Vance each added eight kills for Northridge, which also got 45 assists and eight digs from Travis Bluemling and a match-high 14 digs from Sebastian Pedraza.
For Pepperdine, John Parfitt (.206) had a team-high 11 digs and Paul Carroll also reached double figures with 10 kills (.207). Andy Hein also contributed nine kills and seven blocks (two solo) and Wave setter Jonathan Winder recorded 32 assists, four digs and two blocks.
The Matadors hit an efficient .356 (57-15-118) as a team to .181 (40-19-116) for the Waves. Northridge also posted 45 team digs to 35 for Pepperdine. The Waves did have a 9.5 to 6.5 advantage in team blocks.
After a Carroll kill for the first point of the match, the Matadors took advantage of a Tom Hulse serving error and a Vance ace to take a 2-1 lead. Northridge would never trail again as the lead grew to 12-8 on a Kneubuhl kill forcing a Pepperdine timeout. The Waves cut the lead to one (13-12) before the Matadors built the lead back to 18-13 forcing another timeout. Pepperdine would get within four at 18-14 but no closer as Northridge took game one 30-22.
Pepperdine led a majority of game two until Northridge took a brief 14-12 after Waite and Rhodes teamed up to block Parfitt and Carroll hit out. But the Waves came storming back winning six straight points to take an 18-14 lead. The Waves held the lead until the Matadors evened the score at 27-27 after a Rhodes kill. Northridge then got back-to-back kills from Rhodes and Waite to force game point at 29-27. A Rhodes service error gave the Waves hope, but Vance ended the game with a kill.
Game three was similar to game two as Pepperdine again held the lead early, this time opening up a 17-11 cushion after Rhodes was blocked by Hein and Jon Grobe. The Matadors slowly whittled away the lead eventually tying the score at 20-20 on a Vance kill. Another Vance kill gave Northridge a 21-20 lead and the Matadors never looked back taking the game 30-26 and the match 3-0.
Cal State Northridge continues its five-match homestand on Friday as the Matadors host No. 10 USC at 7 p.m.

Mac, They live broadcast every home match. Just go to www.csun.edu, pick althletics and go to men's volleyball. They don't have that Live Audio Broadcast link on their Volleyball site, which is where I went and where it'd be logical to have it. I would have listened to it. But thanks anyway.

Props to Dan Conners...the guy is working magic with Bluemling. CSUN is in ANY game as long as they have Rhodes...he's about as close to a money high ball option in the game today. Guy's an animal...listed as 6'5, but he's really closer to 6'4...spring loaded, with a wicked quick arm. Haha, on one series tonight Hein served it and of course had to play out the rotation in LB. Bluemling went quick D (pretty much a red, at like 6-8ft), Rhodes goes line and beats Parfit and Hulse closing late...he pops Hein in the chest/shoulder/neck area and the ball flys to the opposite side of the court (the seats w/ backs, where I was)...at least Hein got a goofy chuckle out of it, as if he was conceding he didn't below in the back row Anyways, CSUN is really starting to roll. I think the trick was to finally sit Hanson, let Vance and cagey Kneubuhl hit high and hard (which they both do better than Cary). Conners is transforming 1st yr starter Bluemling, Pedraza continues to be solid, Lischer and Waite again form a top-tier MB duo (both offensively and defensively), and Rhodes continues to jump in the 40s (I'm not kidding...it's ridiculous...he's all fast twitch) and swing like his shoulder is indestructible. Madness just finished, NBA seedings are finalizing, Spring ball is right around the corner, AVP is starting back up...add in the men's NCAA vball tourney and WHAT a time to watch sports! (would be PERFECT if the #1A spectator sport to volleyball, NFL, was available
