Duke is actually playing well and getting solid swings, but the Minnesota defense is just eating up everything, and getting kills in transition. First time I'm seeing Wittman play, and she looks great.

Wittman runs the X-play in the middle very well. She's done it twice this set to perfection. Duke is playing the best they have all year, but Minnesota is just better.

Minnesota outhit Duke .371 to .067 in the first set, and had five blocks to two. The Gophers also had 22 digs to 15. Love had five kills and hit .417, Wittman had four kills and five digs, Dixon had four blocks and Granquist had nine digs.

I have to tell you that I'm pretty darned surprised that Nucci was able to come in and (so far) beat out Tabberson. Really didn't think that would happen.

i am also as i thought very highly of tabberson, my question is what happens next year with mcneil added?
i also have decided that they dont like playing in the morning much

I agree I think the coaches need to do something to wake them up in the morning. I'm going out to San Diego next weekend so maybe I can do something?

25-18. Love leads with 8 kills, but hitting .230 or so. Wittman next with 7 and .350+. Filho with 4 attacks, but 3 kills. Harms 7 and 3.
Meanwhile, Tabberson's ex-teammate Gray has 6 kills and is hitting .500.

Minnesota is outhitting Duke .310 to .084. The Gophers limited Duke to a .105 hitting percentage in the second set and hit .250. Minnesota has eight blocks to four for the Blue Devils, and has 37 digs to 32. After giving up 12 service aces to North Carolina Central and Delaware, the Gophers have not given up one to a Duke team averaging 1.42 saps.
Love has eight kills, four digs and two service aces. She has five service aces in the two matches today. Wittman has seven kills and seven digs. Dixon has four kills and a team-high four blocks. Nucci has 21 assists, three kills, three blocks and five digs, while Granquist has a match-high 16 digs. Granquist has 46 digs today, and was averaging 4.75 dps coming into tonight's match.
