North Carolina Central today.
I'm hearing rumors of a Gibbemeyer injury. Broken hand? Will be interesting to see:
1) if it's true 2) which hand 3) if she plays 4) if she doesn't play, if Dixon goes to middle

I've heard a rumor to that effect, but haven't been able to confirm it. I guess that means it is true.

Except when they are not. If true, hopefully it isn't major (well, as far as broken bones go) and Gibby will be in action this weekend or back next weekend. They could try to get by with Dixon and Filho given the competition this weekend although they can't overlook Duke. I would hope they could handle North Carolina Central and Delaware without Gibby. Hebert has constantly stated that Dixon can play all three front row positions and I guess we may find out. The pressure it puts on the team is that Harms needs to play like she did last Saturday vs. Dayton. MN wouldn't have Dixon, or anyone else, available to come in. I hope Harms can show the consistency they are looking for. If Gibby would be out longer term - a month or more, it could really stress the team.

If Harms weren't delivering, and we needed someone else on the right, I suspect Dixon would move to the right and Haugen would come into the middle.

Which is fine, but not something you can do mid-game.
Depth is really starting to be an issue ...

And a combination of Filho/Haugen in the middle doesn't give me the warm fuzzies.
They may need to consider a 6-2 simply for necessity!

I heard about this too!
Good news is that a broken bone usually heals faster than a sprain. I would guess this weekend should not be a big issue for them, and hope for a fast recovery.
Go Gophers!

At work. Can't download Flash Player on my computer. I will rely on the good people of VT to keep me informed!

Good news: Not a broken hand.
Bad news: It's her wrist.
Worse news: Her right wrist.
At least a month before she'll play? At some point -- and, of course, Lauren's going to be in on this decision -- you have to wonder if the Gophers should start thinking about 2011 and use 2010 to gain valuable experience with the underclassmen.
Dittrich? Dittrich? Depth is fast becoming a big issue.

Not to say they aren't going to be real competitive, like top 16 competitive. I just don't think they have a realistic shot at the finals without a 100% Gibbemeyer (and might not without Cowles anyhow).

I'm at the game. Gibby is not participating in warm-ups. I don't know if this is normal or not (since I don't normally watch Minnesota), but in the warmups they have Dixon hitting exclusively from the middle (along with Filho, Haugen). Harms is the only one hitting from the right side in warmups, and Love and Wittman are hitting from the left.

Normally Dixon hits from all 3 sides in warmups.

Haugen, Dixon and Harms all starters. Tabberson setting.
Either a 6-2 or Filho's not playing. Not a bad idea, if so. They need Haugen and Dixon to both get up to speed in the middle.
