Regarding Yoder, the word is that Cory chose UCI because he wanted to be closer to the beach. If you guys do not know, Cory loves surfing. Bob wanted Cory to attend USC, but Cory had the final say.

Any big time coaches you can think of that would be a good fit for USC?

Any big time coaches you can think of that would be a good fit for USC? Tempting place to play and coach with new world-class facility to open in Augst. Will USC pay top dollar to attract a coach of Mick Haley's caliber? The millions USC is reaping from the football program should make the point moot. I do not read the tea leaves however.

If McGown, Dumphy and this other guys surely won't go anyhwere but where they are at.
Troy Tanner is a great option for this program. He would be a perfect match, especially that he learned well from McGown and Dumphy when he played and when he coached at BYU.

I think there are also coaches that would do well at SC. Rick Mclaughlin who was coach of the year, before his program was shut down at LMU, and Jeff Stork. I know that Stork is turning CSUN around, but I know that he misses coaching the men's game.

Everyone here speculating about the program from a distance really doesn't know what's going on. Mark my words, Bill Ferguson will take over. It would be inane to bring someone in fresh who wasn't a part of the significant recruiting and play improvment in the first place. Speraw's involvement with Balboa Bay, and Bill's with SCVC is going to be the new trend for young college coaches. The top youth players see these guys in the gym and at ASC on a regular basis. The people who have mentioned Cory Yoder think it is a coincidence that he plays for Balboa and is now going to UCI?

Like AAVolley pointed out, I too think the club/recruit link is undeniable. Junkie pointed out the best currently available in RMcLaughlin, IMO. No SC background, but his Pepp/LMO track record was outstanding. I believe he's at Golden West though for the women's season....

Did anyone else enjoy Bill Ferguson's commentary Saturday during and in between the three conference championship matches on CSTV? ?

It was good to see someone with knowledge as the studio analyst, but CSTV didn't utilize him. His partner didn't seem to kno much about volleyball, and the highlights Bill had to work with weren't much, as far as the MIVA and EIVA games. But it was better than nothing, which is par for the course outside of the MPSF. While I don't know him very well, Bill is a good person, as well as a top coach. But I had to laugh when he was asked by the CSTV host if IPFW had a legitimate chance to win a national championship. Bill's pause and smile said everything. If only he could have answered that question "truthfully." He showed class (no surprise) and was very complimentary to Arnie Ball. But his face told me that IPFW doesn't have a snowball's chance, and I would have to agree. The LBSU-UCLA match clearly showed the superiority of the MPSF teams. That was great volleyball.
