I don't know if any of the rest of you have been following this, but it is an amazing story. The first rescue tunnel broke through today and it was an American working the drill. This has to be the toughest part now for the famlies and miners. After 66 days, the end may be in sight, however, it is still over 1/2 mile through rock and the bore is only about 26 inches. Any little rockfall while pulling up a miner could cause the tunnel to become unusable.

I've been following it, although I try not to think about it too much. Claustrophobia and all.

I've been watching it on and off on the Web(abc news plus)...it's quite interesting and this is gonna sound real dripper but at times it gives me goose bumps I'm amazed and impressed of the amount of people who are involved in the rescue efforts.

I guess the families have been negotiating with the media story rights, public appearances, etc. I hope these guys make enough they never have to go down in a mine again.
I have been surprised how good these guys looked. Evidently the system they had hooked up for giving them food worked. And it looks like they each got a razor before they made the trip up.
Didn't I hear somewhere there were two women holding vigil and found out they were there for the same guy? Wonder if they will show that reunion on TV.

"Didn't I hear somewhere there were two women holding vigil and found out they were there for the same guy? Wonder if they will show that reunion on TV. " Saw on a news update, one was his wife, one was his lover. Wonder if he'll choose to stay down there a bit longer?

30 out now. Just three more down there, as well as the rescuers who went down to help them.

Last one is out. (But there seem to still be about 4-5 rescuers still down there.)
