Nope. Apples and Oranges. A time-out is IN the description and rules of the game. I saw an IPFW player spit on the floor, request a towel, and spend 15-20 seconds wiping it up. That is not a time-out, which by the way are limited in number for a reason. You have to choose the right time to call a time-out because they are finite. I did not play as a flopper, coach as a flopper, and I do not like to spectate flopping. To me it is a question of integrity. That is a win-at-all-costs attitude. A time-out is a privilege, and in football you lose the privilege if you "guess" wrong when refuting a call, play, out-of-bounds, etc. You are certainly not alone in your thinking, I just don't agree with it. But how far is too far? Is a 10 second towel-wipe too long? Tough to call unless you do it excessively. Reminds me of people who question whether a player is tough enough to play hurt. You never know, only he does, and he might think he is too injured to play and justifies it to hmself. Andres Nocioni is turning out to be a fine player for the Bulls, but he is an A #1 FLOPPER. Phony, fake, cheater. But good, and yes, winning. hate! hate! hate! hate! hate!

Sour grapes goodbadugly! Your team was flat out outplayed, pure and simple.
IPFW hit .372 to your .279, they had 11 blocks to your 5. Our mh kill production was 16 & 9 compared to your 8 & 7. Brock had 12 k hitting .333, while Joe had 12 k hitting .280. Josh Stewart was the MVP of the tournament, not C.J.
And has far as C.J. being outplayed by Chris again, get over it. These two guys are both great players. Only difference... C.J. is a sophmore and Chris is a senior. Here is how equal they really are. First meeting on 1/28 C.J. had 20 pts., Chris had 20.5. Second meeting on 4/7 C.J. had 29 pts., Chris had 28.5 and then last night C.J. had 21.5 pts to Chris' 28 pts.
I agree with a previous poster, if you are going to let little things like tieing shoes and wiping the floor get into your heads, especially at home where you have a distinct advantage... you've got a problem.

I'm a Loyola fan too and I can say that we did get outplyed no doubt. But I can also say that I have never seen so many towel wipes in a match before. Maybe it's some ploy or maybe IPFW just dives too much. Either way, Loyola is once again denied in the finals now for the 4th time in the last 6 seasons. It was nice to see our team play in the Finals at home for the 1st time ever.

Yeah, and overall 0-5 in the MIVA finals. Boy were the Bills good too.

Loyola doesnt recruit good enough ohs to get through the tournament format. Guntli stepped up at the end of the year but he's still a freshmen and made lots of errors. Nelson hits like one 32 a game and thats about it. But they think they can make it on their middles and RS, and every year they get proven wrong.
That being said, I can't believe that a team starting #5 (I don't know his name) is representing the MIVA in the Final 4. Where are the dominant OHs?

In previous seasons, Loyola has had some damn good outside hitter just thinking off the top of my head, Justin Schnor, Mike Alesch, Scott Greene over the previous 3 seasons from 03-05. Nelson was pretty good last year as the 2nd option on the left side to Greene. Problem is, as he became the top guy on the left side, he was still good but not as dominant as the names I just mentioned, and like chilulu said, Guntli was a freshman who came into the lineup midway but does make a lot of errors. Nate Gustus was not bad early but at times had bad streaks of errors hitting and passing so it appeared that he was benched in favor of the freshman. So we were uncharacteristically weak on the left side this season and that may have been the one thing that could have put us over if we had it.

I'm sure goodbadugly thinks that IPFW missed too many serves on purpose........the dirty cheating tactic of boring the opponent to death!

The sad part is, IMO Loyola is trying to do things the right way. They recruit local kids, provide them with great training and a great education in a great location. I'm sure recruiting a stud or 2 from a foreign country (I include California as foreign) would make life a lot easier.

Shane is doing a fine job there. Most overlook that the program remains consistently one of the top teams in the MIVA year in and year out. Each year you look at the roster and say so and so is graduating and next year they will struggle. A good example is after Davis, and Schnor graduated... you would think they would struggle but then the guys in their program (Mike Alesch...who the heck is Mike Alesch) step in the next year and do an excellent job. Then Alesch graduates and you figure LC will struggle and a guy by the name of Scott Greene (who the heck is Scott Greent) steps up to the plate and ends up being the MIVA player of the year! The bottom line is they do some good training at Loyola and they do not have to rebuild year in and year out, they just reload with the players that have been on the wash team and been trained effectively. My hat is off to their on court training and strength and conditioning program.

VBFAN.
Not sure if any coach would appreciate this as his/moniker. When "doing things the right way" is sticking to just academic/chicago kids.........not sure if that is a good recruiting tool.
The Greene kid was from the Buffalo area (foreign)......hey maybe he brought the Bills curse! AAARRGGH!
On the other side of the coin you have Arnie....who is usually late in the recruiting game, unorthodox coaching style somehow allows his players to bloom into really tough and explosive players.
