If you had to choose between Chicago and Fort Wayne, which would you choose? That being said, why did Macias choose IPFW over Loyola (big city with lots to do) or Ohio State (Big Ten University with almost everything)? I can see the Canadians and other foreign players going to IPFW, but if I am not being recruited to play in California, do I see Fort Wayne as a great place to spend the next four+ years of my life? No offense to IPFW or the city of Fort Wayne, but Arnie Ball has to be the main draw.

Not sure if any coach would appreciate this as his/moniker. When "doing things the right way" is sticking to just academic/chicago kids.........not sure if that is a good recruiting tool. The Greene kid was from the Buffalo area (foreign)......hey maybe he brought the Bills curse! AAARRGGH! I'd still consider upstate NY and PA as midwest. Virtually all of the Loyola kids are midwest kids. As to academics not being a good recruiting tool ... I think the only school in the MIVA that could compete with Loyola is OSU. Then the choice boils down to whether you want to go to a BIG school or a smaller school. I think most midwest kids are rational enough to know that they're not going to earn their living playing volleyball.

Spin it anyway you want to spin it! "IPFW wipes the court too much", "the refs", "at least Loyola does things the RIGHT WAY", because they recruit local kids"....BLAH, BLAH, BLAH!!! They choked AGAIN! They have been beaten on their HOLE of a home court 2 years in a row in the MIVA tourn. Once in the semi-finals, and now once in the finals. From what one previous poster wrote, it is now 5 MIVA finals that they have played in, and have never come away with a win. Davis may be a really good technical coach, but he is missing something in the mental training area, if he can't get his team to produce and win when it REALLY counts and the pressure is on. Skates obviously knows how to do that. Davis is young and still very inexperienced. Maybe the next time Loyola hosts the MIVA tournament, they should choose to play in their bigger gym. HA HA HA. This crappy gym doesn't seem to be much help to them in the MIVA Tournament. I told you all months ago, that Ball State, Ohio State and Loyola were all over ranked at one point or another, and that IPFW was the hot team that would win in the end. Loyola was the #1 seed, playing at home against a team they beat twice during the regular season. THAT IS A CHOKE!

BS...you did say these things but don't pat yourself on the back too hard....you statements are statements of the obvious....you are not pulling a rabit out of your hat. Now if the California schools dominate this week you will say "I have been telling you all that the midwest and east are bad" If the EIVA or MIVA teams get into the finals or win....you will preach how you have been backing IPFW for weeks and Scates is not a good coach or whatever you choose" Just don't pat yourself on the back to hard.
Hey everybody I predict that the sun will come out tomorrow!

IPFW is a regional campus of Indiana Univ. and Purdue Univ. You graduate from there with a Big 10 diploma. Academically, it stands up to the other MIVA schools. A Big 10 degree is a pretty good draw.

No offense to IPFW or the city of Fort Wayne, but Arnie Ball has to be the main draw. Ft. Wayne's not a bad place to live... but it is a great place for volleyball. We get great, enthusiastic crowds out for the matches and the city itself has a lot to offer for those who want to play or coach. With that being said, I'm sure that Coach Ball is the main draw.

We've already established that Loyola blew it. BS, why don't you stop kissing your own butt and post something that we can civily discuss. I don't know you and I haven't met you but your online conversations are very frustrating to read. You want to keep reminding everyone that you're the king of the AVCA poll rankings, whatever. Loyola choked...yes, pretty much obvious to anyone who follows the team and saw the game. They were the favorite to win and they couldn't get it done.

No you dont. Yes, you do. The degree is issued from IU or Purdue, depending upon the major. The diploma says Indiana University or Purdue University, not IPFW. You get pestered by the IU or Purdue Alumni Association afterward. The university has to get approval from Purdue Univ. before it does anything. IPFW students are included in the population count for IU and PU, again depending upon the major. Even though it is a regional campus, technically, the degree comes from IU or Purdue, so it is a Big 10 degree.

My degree says Indiana.....never had anyone question it.......they always asked how well I knew Bobby Knight.....but i guess that came with the territory...
I went to IPFW because of Arnie.....and a couple of the players.....
then I fell in love with the city......the people.....its different out there....and you wont be turned by one simple post on a volleyboard......
the people out there care and are outgoing.....they are much different than almost anyone I meet here in NY.......

As much as it pains me, I have to defend Ft Wayne also.. it's not the WORST place in the US to live. What do people look for in a city? I just want some place to eat and there are a lot of places to do that in FTW. There is some ok shopping. Other than that, of course there are much more interesting places to live but like I said, you could do worse. As far as VB is concerned, IPFW always has better and louder crowds than almost any other place, save Hawaii and BYU. Personally I don't think Arnie is THAT great a coach but I won't go there.... ;D
