Hambly likes to hire people he has experience with in the past. Nothing wrong with that. So the coaching staff is in place. Now the uncertainty is whether or not there will be a 2020 WVB season. With the Olympics postponed for a year, if there is no 2020 volleyball season, it will be a killer for volleyball fans and for the sport. Right now looking a bit shaky for 2020. I'm trying to envision how it could be done given current set of circumstances.

Went back and watched a few early 2016 matches (v. PSU and v. Minnesota), cuz what else is someone going to do in LA right now. It's fascinating to think about the alternative universe where Hodson doesn't get injured and retire and instead progresses toward something approaching the potential she showed freshman year. 2017 and 2018 teams would look very different. I have no idea if Plummer would stay at opposite, Fitz in the middle, McClure see the front row, or Plummer would even be Player of the Year, but just imagining a 2018 line-up with Hodson and Plummer at OH and Fitz at Opp.... are they undefeated an in the conversation for greatest team ever? Probably still behind PSU 2008 and maayyybee USC 2003, but (in this universe), that would be a Stanford team with 4 1st team AA and 2 2nd team AA. If I had control of the DEVS thingy and got to use the multiverse algorithm, that's what I'd go back and watch, lol.

And Plummer hitting out of right back as well.... Jeeezzusss

As long as we're dreaming....imagine if Alade redshirted her freshman year and came back as a redshirt senior in 2019. Stanford could have started 7 senior All-Americans (Plummer, Hodson, Fitzmorris, Gates, Alade, Gray, Hentz)...I'd put that team up against PSU 2008 or USC 2003.

I wonder if Hambly gives a good long look at L. Smith as opposite.

What’s a good long look? If all goes well first practice about August 10 and first game about last weekend in August. Kipp was practicing at the Opp when practice and school came to a halt.

L. Smith just doesn’t scream “right side” to me. Sure she can touch nearly 11 ft, and she has the height and arm length to boot, but she just seems more naturally a middle to me. Seems like Kipp will anchor the right side

Seems like Kipp will anchor the right side We need to see what L Smith can do with better coaching. I think she has enough quickness to play middle, but from what little video I've seen, she lacks commitment at the attack point. I believe Hambly and staff can fix this flaw.

We have some pretty good pins, we kind of need her in the middle. We would be rather thin in the middle of she moved.

Just looking ahead on this thread: When we get another 60 pages, are we going to have to worry about an invasion of Sooners' fans?

Any thoughts on when the first weekend will be? Or report day? Obviously could all be in flux depending on COVID.
