Thought we might have seen a flower blossom then as well, but that didn't really happen in 2019. Campbell always seems in composure and she did get some key kills at big moments in the 2018 NC against Nebraska. I think she would have been much more of a standout if Gates hadn’t transferred and taken the MB1 position from Campbell. I think she will be a force next season whenever that takes place! I've liked Campbell from the start and doubt she would ever be replaced next Spring. I was not surprised by her stats, but impressed with her consistency. In 2018, she hit .292 with 141 blocks for 1.25/set. In 2019, .290 with 149/1.28/set. Yes, we would all want a middle who hit about 50 points higher and who hit more effectively in front of the setter, but her blocking was stellar. Some matches, she was a dominant blocker. Blocking usually improves with experience and coaching in college, so I wouldn't be surprised to see her numbers go up next year.

I gather that Gray played the first part of the match and was replaced by another setter. Gates had 10 kills and clearly was hitting slides. Yep, no mention of Hentz. I didn't know Gates was playing on this squad. Was she a replacement for Fitzmorris?

Gray got the start, but was replaced in the third set when Dresdner was down 3-7. Coach said their slides were effective (esp Gates scoring on her slides), but blocking and defense were not. Hope Hentz gets a start soon, and can prove herself. (Also, didn't know that Naya Crittendon, former Oregon/Illinois Opp from the Bay Area, was on this team. She got subbed in in set 3.)

Three days ago, Stanford Athletics put out a really nice 2+ minute vid of the team back on campus and practicing on the Taube tennis courts. Baird, Kipp, Oglivie and Tufuga narrated.

Are there any rumours about international recruit? Ipar Kurt is OH/Opp from Turkey and she is class of 2023. She got MVP award in U19 European Championship last month and plays for Fenerbahce&Terzic. She was teammate with Kelsey Robinson last year. http://instagram.com/p/CEh7c-sF1jQ

She was born on December 10, 2003. She is talented enough to go pro but I heard she wants to go to Ncaa. She is studying in one of the best high schools in Turkey. She follows Standord women's volleyball on instagram as well.

How tall is she? Doesn't look like she is over 6 feet tall. She definitely gets skills.
Nevermind, I looked her up. She is 6'1" (186 cm). (İpar Özay Kurt, born 10 November 2003, is a Turkish volleyball player.) She does follow Stanfordwvb and Selena Xu.

All players coming from Europe play proball but they don't get paid if they have ncaa plans. For example, Haak played for free in French league cause she had ncaa plans but then she was just too good and sign for Scandicci at the end of the season.

I knew there were teams for most clubs that were amateur players but I just figured that if they were playing on the top team for the club that they would be getting paid. But I’m definitely new to following pro ball so I’m not really sure how much of it works lol
