There's a person in a FB volleyball group, who says they are hearing this from sources close to the program: "I’ve heard it’s very likely their season gets canceled all together due to county restrictions. They haven’t had a real practice in god knows how long" "The pac is considering dropping them for this season as it’ll be almost impossible for them to play." Anyone close to the Stanford program, who can say this is being discussed? Or if this is ridiculous, especially the Pac 12 not letting them play, if they can only play 10 matches? Yes there have been conversations between Stanford and the Pac but your FB friend has it backwards. The rest of the schools and the Pac have been trying to find a way to help Stanford to compete - even if it is only for 10 matches in order to get an At Large for the tournament. Kevin and all the players have been working hard. But Santa Clara County is the most restrictive county in the nation and Stanford has made it clear since the start of the pandemic that there are more important things than sports (I happen to agree with that). No one is "not letting Stanford play". Everyone wants Stanford to play. There is no conspiracy here. But there is no easy solution. Not my friend, I don't know him, I suspect he is trolling. But I was super alarmed even though I'm pretty sure this is ridiculous and no way true. Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it.

Can confirm he is not trolling considering everything he said in that thread was accurate and lined up with what @bwf2 just posted lol. He said and I quote “the pac 12 does want Stanford to play and are trying to find a solution one just hasn’t been found yet”

There are so many empty California college & high school gyms right now, surely Stanford can find another location. Like Sonoma State or Hayward State?

He initially said "The pac is considering dropping them for this season as it’ll be almost impossible for them to play." He only added the later comment because he was being called on the initial dramatic statement.

The pac doesn’t want to drop Stanford but if they have to they will. but the words “the pac doesn’t want them” never came out of my mouth. Well I guess keyboard.

You did say this though initially, right? ""The pac is considering dropping them for this season" correct. Which is true if no solution can be found

You did say this though initially, right? ""The pac is considering dropping them for this season" correct. Which is true if no solution can be found I apologize for saying you were trolling. I just thought it was very shocking that you'd say - this info was from sources close to the Stanford volleyball program - that the Pac 12 is considering dropping them if they can't play 10 matches - that someone in the Stanford volleyball program told you, the Pac 12 has said, they are considering dropping them (not letting them play) in some situation And specifically what I am surprised by, is that the Pac 12 would ask Stanford not to play a season if they ended up only being able to play say March 12th, and only play 8 matches. That's the big thing I'd be very surprised by, that the Pac 12 is already considering now. They could just let Stanford play those 8 matches or 6 matches. I apologize for saying you were a troll.

He was the one who told me some of it.

Assuming they can find a gym outside SCC, then they can play the home and home with Cal?

Assuming they can find a gym outside SCC, then they can play the home and home with Cal? Maybe this isn’t apples and apples, but why are the Stanford men getting ready to play their season while training in Austin? Meanwhile the women are hidden in some undisclosed location practicing on grass and seemingly caught in the twilight zone of being unable to meet the county covid rules that would allow them to play. This appears unfair on its face. . . Of course they did just cancel the men’s program forever. . . So I guess the powers that be can go further . . .🏐

Can’t they make some sort of outdoor court like they did in the fall? I assume that’s what they’re doing instead of grass lol
