Assuming they can find a gym outside SCC, then they can play the home and home with Cal? Maybe this isn’t apples and apples, but why are the Stanford men getting ready to play their season while training in Austin? Meanwhile the women are hidden in some undisclosed location practicing on grass and seemingly caught in the twilight zone of being unable to meet the county covid rules that would allow them to play. This appears unfair on its face. . . Of course they did just cancel the men’s program forever. . . So I guess the powers that be can go further . . .🏐 I just don’t understand why the Men’s and women’s basketball teams are practicing and playing but VB is having this huge of an issue ? Maybe this was addressed earlier but I can’t find it?

The men's and women's basketball teams got set up in housing outside SCC more than a month ago. There was a budget for two teams. Now with the start of the winter quarter there are a dozen plus Stanford sports starting up that need facilities outside SCC. My guess is the athletic department decided they couldn't afford to relocate all these teams. You would think a team that is defending national champion might be a priority but it's not.

This is a video of Cameron Brink playing Stanford basketball. She has the coordination and agility for someone at 6'4" height. She could be good at MB, the position she played during her prep days. But would Tara let her play VB?

Well remember, there are eight teams this year that are defending national champion at Stanford.

Bay Area ICU capacity improved to 6.8% today so trend might be our friend. I think it needs to go to 15% before SCC will even think about dropping restrictions.
EDIT: Today's (Wed., Jan 20) North Dakota numbers continue to improve with 3% test positivity rate and drop in active cases throughout the state to 1,177. North Dakota is roughly two months ahead of California on the trend lines.

Off topic I know, and this may have been mentioned already but I just noticed Morgan Hentz isn't with the Dresdner team. Is she with team USA? Anyone have the details?

Intensive care unit availability in the Bay Area jumped to 23.4% on Saturday (Jan 23) after weeks of single-digit availability. Not certain what it is in Santa Clara County currently, but the trend lines in Northern Tier States suggest that California cases should fall rapidly even without deployment of the CV-19 vaccines.

California is likely to lift their state wide stay at home number tomorrow according to several news reports. Not certain when it will take effect, but likely it will begin immediately or a few days later. The state is approaching 3.2 million confirmed CV-19 cases and getting much closer to the per capita infection rates of states such as North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota. Test positivity rates are dropping and number of daily cases has dropped significantly.
Weather over the next two weeks is turning colder which will force more people indoors, so that might slow the fall off in cases. But the good news is we are expected to receive significant rainfall throughout the state which will help to increase indoor humidity.

The question will the “health Director” of Santa Clara county allow college sports in her domain ? SC county like much of California has seen a huge decrease in cases. ICU availability much better So sad watching so many sports open in the Pac 12 except Stanford this past weekend

California officially lifted the stay at home order this morning...
However, "Counties can opt to be more restrictive than the state and it's unknown at this point which counties will decide to fall in line with the state's guidelines and which ones will implement more restrictive rules."
Why do I get the feeling Santa Clara County is not going to change anything this week? I'm hoping otherwise, but...

Interesting that the only other county restricted allowed their college UC Davis to play again. Last week
