Someone's back with a new name. He’s not hiding it. You can click on his profile and it says soupman. This has been his name for awhile. I think he just likes changing his name every now and then. It’s not like some people who register with a different account. Shoot, just telling his story it’s obvious he’s not hiding who he is. I don’t really even need that, his posting style is so unique. But I appreciate he’s not really hiding behind a new alias. He just wanted a new name. The forum allows you to do that, so why not?

Don’t know that person but their response having like 1% to do with the topic of conversation and the other 99% being a long-winded anecdote about their own athletic career is crazy

**IT'S-THE-BEGINNING-OF-A-NEW-SEASON MATCHDAY** - Having a healthy Sami Francis...especially at the end of the season/postseason...will be a major key for this team. Hope Hambly manages it well.

Regarding L's, Stanford may be looking to convert a left side hitter that has great passing and floor D skills but who may lack the height to play front row collegiately. As a true freshman Rubin hit 230 as an OH. This compares to other not tall enough true freshman OH like Kipp who hit 223 and Francis who hit 188. You are correct in that she is a bit undersized to play the OH position at Stanford. However, her passing and defense is simply one of the best I've seen in Club for the past several years. Yes she plays left side in Club but her back row skills is why she is so coveted Nationally. I believe she will be a phenomenal libero if Stanford indeed lands her.

My thoughts as the season opens:
Sami Francis - really the key to this year. At times she looks like she has the potential to be a first team all American. We need her to stay healthy. If Sami is strong we will be very difficult to beat this year.
Elena Oglivie - ended up third in the nation in passing efficiency last year. But she only passed 20% of the serves. You can say that of course teams served away from her but Nuneviller, who was also one of the most efficient passers last year, passed 40% of her teams balls. We need Elena to squeeze the court and pass more balls. Not sure if Hambly for some reason doesn't believe in squeezing but it is important.
Catie Beard - hitting was way down last year from 284 in 2021 to 246. It would be nice if that bounced back. But frankly we can win the natty with that kind of hitting. But Baird can't be passing 40% of serves. For the life of me I can't figure out why we don't DS for her. We really don't have a single DS that can pass better than that? Squeeze her and DS for her. We probably won't but it is a mistake.
Kendall Kipp - had a massive year last year. Not sure what else she can do. But she did have a swing to win that USD match and didn't put the ball down. Of course the loss wasn't her fault, but I would love to see her be the winner that really carries us.
Kami Miner - awesome setter. I think she will set the national team for several cycles. Wish she would feed the MBs a bit more. Part of that may be a Hambly thing. We haven't really fed the MBs since he came. We also haven't had an Inky or Foluke.
Ella Rubin - had a really strong freshman year. Would love to see her add 50 points to her 230 hitting and I think she can. Often the biggest jump is freshman to sophomore year. Top 25 in passing efficiency (including liberos) in the nation last year taking 40% of balls. Those are awesome stats for anyone much less a frosh.
McKenna Vincini - nice player. A really good second MB on a top team. Blocks well. Doesn't get set a ton but hits for a good percentage. Sort of is what she is but that is pretty good.
Freshman won't play much at all unless there are injuries.
This team can with the natty. Not odds on favorites but should be strong. Will be fun to watch.

I was referring to the possible Libero that Hammer was referring to in a earlier post. I know who the kid is and was just commenting on it. I'm new here and I really don't know the etiquette. I saw what Hammer said and I was just following up on it. Hammer didn't name her and I just took that as cue to not say yet.

Just checking stats after the match commenced...but Kevin seems to be putting Blyashov's and Harvey's feet-to-the-fire from the get go. Is Kipp injured? Is Baird, since she is in street clothes? Guess we will find out tomorrow.
