Unless the Card serves lights out and our pin blocking all of a sudden improves dramatically, it's a tough ask to take down Pitt at home. SMU did it on their home floor barely, but they were woman handled @ Pitt. PSU also was woman handled @ Pitt. I'd be more than ecstatic if go 1-1 vs SMU/Pitt. I feel like Stanford needs someone, on court, to step up and be a true leader. Haven't seen that since 2019.
I'm not being snarky. I'd really like to know how you determine that someone is a true leader.

Legit question I did NOT think I would be asking, but is Kurt a legit possibilty for NFOY? She has come up huge for the Card recently and seems to improve almost every match

They need someone on court who has the ability to motivate or inspire. I think Rubin is close, but needs to shore up her mental fitness. Everyone else just seems to be too nice and lowkey, imho. They clap a lot and pat one another on the back. But on court, they need someone with fire in their eyes.

You must not have seen the team from the previous two years. Compared to them this team has Anger issues.

LOL. I agree about the last couple of years. But if this current team has "anger issues," I'd like to see them channel that rage into the dominant team I think they could be. I want to see raging fire on court.

Pleasantly surprised that this team swept SMU.
I love the progression of Kurt, she has become a mature player in a span of half a season. I don't think she's getting any awards this season but she has given such a nice balance on the other OH spot opposite Rubin.
But the thing that stood out to me in this match is how dependable and improved our middles were. They were all over both in defense and offense. Sami Francis is slowly becoming a dominant middle.
Hope our serving picks up. 22 service errors won't help vs Pitt.

She has come up huge for the Card recently and seems to improve almost every match Next season's OH scenario will be super interesting: Stanford returns both Rubin + Kurt plus Blyashov. We add Demaria into the mix. If Kurt continues to improve, looks like we will be seeing two top 10 OHs in their classes on the bench (Blyashov and Demaria). Unless Hambly makes a bold move and puts Kurt in the Opp and put Blyashov as the other OH (Demaria most likely will redshirt). This is fun!

Blyashov must have broken something in her foot to be out this long.

I love the way Kurt celebrates! We have been missing that energy for a while

Kurt trained and played with Fenerbahce, redshirted, has stronger than normal academic credentials versus most other Stanford athletes, and I believe she's at least 20 years old. She's more mature than your typical US born and raised freshman.

Loving this teams fire and grit. Just watched the replay, my biggest takeaway is that our middles are improving. 1% better everyday is still getting better everyday.
Harvey has so much potential but from the outside she looks to be in her head. She's just got to relax a little, she's not the tallest but she's so physical. Quick tempo is her comfort zone, but OOS she needs to make better high percentage choices and stop running under the balll.

You can tell right away how much more comfortable she is on the left.
