I’ve been watching Kami Miner for a few years now and majority of her sets are behind the hitters. I like her floor defense and blocking but I don’t think her setting is good enough.

me too but it's her passing / backrow defense that is probably holding her back
I agree. Harvey needs to work on her passing and floor defense. I wonder if Demaria or Queen have a chance against Harvey, for court time next year.
Also, I noticed during the Pitt match, when Harvey was on the left, she pretty much never covered the floor on defense. So when Kurt got the set or was up blocking with her middle - on the rightside, Harvey was standing straight up at the left front just watching the action. Not covering the floor. I'm not sure what's going on there. It's as if she's waiting or getting ready to hit, instead.
Queen I dont think so. Ive seen her play multiple times, shes good, would do good at a mid major, in a power five conference? i dont think so. I truly dont know where her impact will be at stanford as passing is not her strongest suit either. We will see.

I thot it was her hitters...and not Kami's setting. But I could be wrong.

How about Demaria? How would she stack up against, Harvey, Bly, and Kurt? Any chance of Demaria seeing court time in 2025? I've seen her hitting, but have no idea about her sr or floor defense.

No idea Don’t know much about anything outside Hawaii, as hard for me to watch all the matches I’ve heard from various people though she is amazing

Good setters rarely set behind their hitters. . Kami most likely does it even more rarely, but I haven't observed her for several years.

IMO her left side pin setting is the best among all Stanford setters since the early 90s. Ones, thirty-ones, back ones, Is more of an issue, however these are rarely behind the hitter. These are more about timing, height, ball set slightly left or right of where hitter would ideally want it. Also, look at the middle hitters Miner has had to deal with during her career. Sets out to the right pin, which generally are more difficult because the setter can't see the target, I'd say she's definitely well above average but this is where she will set some balls behind the hitter or too tight to the net.

Just looked at some of her video again, most of which is about one half year old. I wouldn't project her as beating out any of Rubin, Bly, or Harvey in 2025 on the left side. I'm not seeing enough attack speed and vertical to go over collegiate blockers. 2026 might be an option after weight training and learning how to hit OOS balls.

I agree. Rubin is a fierce competitor.
Next year, I fear, things won't be much better. I'm looking forward to 2026. Anticipating the arrival of Sarah Hickman and Ella Andrews.
It can’t be about next year, or the year after. Too many highly regarded recruits never meet expectations…or retire. Being in the top 5 year in and year out is a big deal. Winning a NC is nearly impossible, luck is involved.
Do you think Stanford will get to a regional final this year?

is that sweet 16? i think they have a chance at sweet16 but elite 8 is where they'll struggle

is that sweet 16? i think they have a chance at sweet16 but elite 8 is where they'll struggle based on the committee reveal we’d likely play Purdue in the sweet 16, who put up way more of a fight against Nebraska at home. I think we match up well with purdue if we spread colvin’s block and get toughish serves IN. We’d then have a rematch with Louisville at home in the elite eight. If Luper doesn’t have another NPOY showing we have a chance. Our hitters really need to avoid Scott though

Reading her as a middle is near impossible also her OOS setting is elite~ the reason why i place her wayyy in front of bergen reilly . reilly receives great passes/digs to work with as well as better hitters so ofc, bergen would have higher numbers, but given what kami has, kami has to work so much harder

My point is that there is always a lot of talk about the next big incoming freshman, which is something for conversation, but SU is top 8 year in and year out. I get it, it’s all about the big one but we are pretty spoiled.
