Incredible accomplishment for Plummer. Can’t wait to see what she has in store for her final act at Stanford. The AAU IG story confirmed a couple of things:
-She’s playing her senior year. -She’s graduating right after the Fall. -She’s training with the national team this Summer to try and make a couple of teams and her end goal is Tokyo 2020.
I’d say she’s fighting an uphill battle, but I wouldn’t put anything beyond her at this point.

I don’t think he’ll do that bc it his way or the highway (even tho his way hasnt worked)

The real question is does Karch even remember 1) how explosive Plummer is on the right side and 2) she’s played it her whole time before Stanford. At the USA tryouts in 2018, she played left side

He hasn’t had a right header hit oppo since faucet with the exception of Bartsch in that one final game for like that last 2 sets of vnl. The starters have all been lefty (Murphy, Drews, Lowe). I think Plummer would dominate in the right but we’ll see ig

I am not a coach or a scout. And, it took me exactly one set to her on the right side to see how explosive she was over there. If Karch can't see that, he should stick to TV.

I think if she had trained with USA last summer and played w/ the Pan Am team (which she had an invite to apparently), she would've had a slightly better chance. However, she was still recovering from that knee injury and of course had the Stanford Europe trip. I also wouldn’t count her out, I just am wondering how she will adjust to the speed of the sets. While she can crank on the right side, I fear that her height advantage and explosiveness might be mitigated by a set that’s too fast/low for her. Who knows if she even will play right side

Who knows if she even will play right side The sets are very fast and pretty low compared to college, but every hitter gets a slightly different set. All almost identical speed but the heights vary slightly by player. The sets typically are at max height as the hitter is hitting them. So let’s say Plummer touches higher than Larson (I’m assuming but I’m not sure), Plummer set will go higher than Larson’s to allow Plummer to hit it in best spot possible. Karch won’t have a hitter hitting a ball below their max contact point. The speed will be there but it won’t be too low for Plummer because they will adjust to her contact point.

Sure , in principle that sounds great. I’m questioning her ability to excel in Karch’s system not the ability of the setters

MOST players have more success with a faster set as long as they can get get there, which I believe she can. Hopefully. The only reason I posted ab the setting stuff is because u said u were worried about too fast/low. I think she’ll be ok I’m much more concerned for defense and (serve receive if she plays left)

USA needs a scorer tbh. Not saying defense doesn’t matter either

Put she’s gonna need to play pretty solid defense or else teams will go after her. Obviously in international play every hitter can hit basically every spot so ripping to right back won’t be much of a task for a lot of players. I’m mostly worried ab her playing right back defense when the middles are swinging, she is not quick in reaction and is often beat because she doesn’t get low enough. Right and left back obviously dig most middle balls. If she was a left side idk if she could handle the serve pressure. She is solid for a college passer, but nothing special so it worries me what will happen at the next level. She will get there, but the question is will she be there by 2020. I don’t think offense / blocking will be as important for her as the backcourt because everyone knows she can score.

Typical, this past page of USWNT'ers. Earth to posters: they interviewed KP before announcing the award. She said (to paraphrase), 'I'm aiming for 2020, but I have school, so I am not sure about that. After all of that I think I'm going for beach' (nearly word-for-word). So Yeah, MAYBE she hits Tokyo - if she makes the team - BUT, as I stated here before - sand is her future.
