It is no secret that Hugh is and has been their top choice, as he probably should be. If he is serious about it, it is going to take some time to work out the logistics of it because he's not going to leave until after the olympics. If he is not interested or they can't work it out, then it opens a whole bunch of other options that have beens discussed here. Most of the names mentioned aside from Hugh are coaches in successful programs who need to protect themselves. Only they know if they have been contacted or not, regardless of what they are telling people who ask. That being said, I heard from a guy who knows the accountant of Tom Selleck, he will be the new coach. They have already approached Hugh, considering there is no announcement, I think you have your answer.

The fact they haven't hired yet leads me to believe Hugh may be in the mix. He said he was committed thru 2016 but wouldn't be first coach to reverse field

OKAY, I am for formally starting a "No Patrick to Minnesota" movement as we speak. What is scary is he has a pretty good resume that might make him attractive. You do not need a poser to replace a legend.

Would the search be considered "bungled" yet? Sort of like the Michigan football search. Obviously, any search won't happen immediately, but the longer it goes, the longer it impacts recruiting.
I wouldn't consider the MN AD any sort of prime athletic administrator.

Why would Scott take it as an interim knowing he'd be gone in two years? Gophs would get killed in recruiting this way. The only way an interim works is if they are handpicked by Hugh and then become part of his staff and it is announced upfront. IMHO I agree with that. It's what gave USC back-to-back championships in 2002/2003. They had an excellent recruiter, Jerritt Elliott, filling in the gaps until Mick got done with USA. Everybody knew what was going to happen, and it made the recruiting that much easier.

I thought it was Lisa Love's solution to filling the gap until Mick was available.

Nope, no axe to grind, as a matter of fact he and I have played a lot of ball together in the past and tilted a few brews. But I find his behavior as a coach intolerable, towards his players and officials. I have seen him cost his teams many sets because he is yelling at his players instead of guiding them and other instances where he has flat quit coaching them in disgust. His body language leaves much to be desired. Poser probably the wrong word, I'll just go with undeserving to replace a class act.

I see that my original post has the ring of a personal attack, for which I apologize. I should have just said, I don't think Rob is a good fit and let it go. I will be more judicious in the future.
