The announcement was delayed due to an additional interview possibility. I'm told by someone close to the department that the goal is the 31st (I know...another he said/she said comment. I too am growing tired of stories. I want to coach named now hahaha). Maybe we should all quit posting until the coach is named? We know who the main players are. All that's left to do is wait...patiently...and see.

Spoiler alert.... Scott Swanson next head coach at UM. Go Gophers! This would put an end to great volleyball at MN. And why would you say that? Funny, when Heffernan was here the thought was that he was the heir apparent and how the program would suffer after he left. Same with Boos. But Scott has never received the same amount of respect despite the program continuing to do well and making a final four during his tenure.

You'd think a program with the stature of MN VB would be able to attract a top coach. I actually think it's a GOOD thing when schools keep silent until they have an actual hire. Saves embarrassment if turned down.

Both Heffernan and Boos did not fare well in their head coach debuts after their time at Minnesota. Both have decided to go back to the assistant coaching ranks where Boos stepped into a good situation at Florida with a veteran team while Heffernan stepped into a more difficult situation trying to rebuild Wisconsin. But Scott has never received the same amount of respect despite the program continuing to do well and making a final four during his tenure.

Here's my dream. Hugh McCutcheon takes the job because all the powers that be decide to move the national team training center to the U of M campus so he can do both. What the heck. Then all the top recruits in the country decide that since the training center is right in the back yard of the U they may as well all go there so the coach of the olympic team can train them and maybe they can even be mentored by current national team members and former and future Olympians to boot. I love this dream! In fact, I don't think I'll wake up, it's pretty good.

Perhaps the delay is not just the usual negotiations with a head coach, but the search for an interim as well . . .

They went to Christy Johnson twice who said no thanks. I know of one orher female candidate that was contacted. They went back to Hugh who struggled with decision. Hugh has been beyond close to taking job. I don't know if is still considering or turned it down.
