Love is definitely considering transferring but is waiting to see who the new coach will be. However, her decision isn't necessarily because of Scott. It is my understanding she thought of transferring after the 2009 season, too.
I don't think Nucci would transfer. Quit, maybe, but she would need to sit a year if she transferred. And, wouldn't her eligibility expire at that point?
I think the feeling was that Bohl would be the other DS. However, she apparently hurt her knee in their state tourney and probably won't be available this year.
One positive about the Cowles injury last year is that it did give Sooter significant playing time. That should really help. Especially if Love does transfer and Cowles moves back to the OH position.

Agreed about Sooter. Her court presence and not to mention skill increased noticeably from match to match.

I honestly don't see anyone outside of maybe Nucci ( who I think would just call it quits) transferring this year. They only lose one player off a sweet 16 team. They possibly gain a better setter, and definitely gain a better passer in Hailey. If Filho can step up next year this team has the making of at least a final 4 team. I don't see these kids transferring without out giving the new coach a chance. I really wish they would hire somebody soon. Minnesota could be missing out on some good recruiting time. I wouldn't mind if they picked up another DS next year. We seem to be really short on them this year. Plus Cowles, Granquist, and Menden all graduate next year. It would be nice if we had someone besides Sooter for the next year, and spending the year behind Granquist and Cowles would be good for any young player. Those 2 players know the game well. They also host a regional this year right?

Sure do! And I completely agree about Sooter, I was just saying she will need help the next year as she is the only one returning, especially if Bohl can't play next year. It would just be nice to get someone else practicing and learning the system. There are usually some good unsigned defensive specialst in the spring as well, and with a coach we could maybe pick one up.

A starter as a freshman for a final four team who really developed and improved this year, and next year's team also looking very strong.

If I can't have an answer, can't I even have some wild speculation? Unsubstantiated rumor? After all, this is Volleytalk.

Speaking of which, I heard that Hugh finally told Minnesota no. Can anyone closely associated with the NT or athletic department confirm or deny this? If this is true, looks like the road is clear for Brady...

The notion that the vaunted, perennially ranked, U of Minn volleyball program, can do no better than plug the biggest fish from the small pond known as Div II astonishes me. But what do I know? I'm curious, though: What has been the track record of Div II coaches getting the reins of a top Div I team? Has it even happened before?

If they interview and strongly consider Brady, why wouldn't they also call established D1 coaches like Sheffield, Skinner or Carlston? Rosenthal would be a good candidate...and even a proven successful coach like Jim Stone. A lot of talented D1 coaches could take Minnesota far. I still don't think Brady is ready for that big of push so soon.
