Krista Chin. She played at some point, didn't she? Don't think she was a scholarship player.

Why would a coach leave OSU for Minnesota? I know Mike left Champaign for Minneapolis, and that there is some attraction to a bigger city for some, but it just seems like it'd cause more problems for Geoff than would be offset by an potential advantages. Columbus has twice the population of Minneapolis. In addition, OSU has 65% more students, and the Buckeye football team draws 3-4X the fans. There is a lot of snow in Minneapolis. Hebert left Illinois because the athletic director/women's athletics director wanted to give big money to bring in Theresa Grentz (who had a NC) for basketball instead of rewarding the volleyball program. While Minnesota has a couple very solid club programs with plenty of northern European height bloodlines, I don't see a new coach keeping up with Hambly and Rose on the national recruiting scene. I believe it's imperative the Gophers land an excellent game and training coach who can get the most out of what will be competitive- but not superior- talent.

I don't know where you get your information, because OSU does NOT have 65% more students than the U of M. UMN has 65,000 students vs. 62,000 at OSU. This is from the US Dept. of Education. This may include all students (including graduate students) - but your #'s are way off... I'm just saying

And while we're getting this right: Minneapolis is, statistically, just part of Minneapolis/St. Paul, a metro area with double the population of Columbus'.

To add to that... The Twin Cities metro has approximately 3.5 million where as the Columbus metro area has 1.7 million.

And, while we're at it, Columbus is also the armpit of Ohio.
As an Athens-born expert, I feel free to offer that fact.

Should Hugh take on the HC job at MN, its going to help the program tremendously.
Sure Top 5 program for MN every year

I keep seeing Hugh's name mentioned here. Does he have a connection to Minnesota other than that Wiz hails from Minnesota?

I wouldn't think Salima would want to apply to MN unless her husband got a good IT job there or MN shows her the $$$. Her husband's job was the reason why she left PSU. i heard Salima was uninterested in being a head coach, much like Denise Corlett. Maybe, I don't exactly know what Salima is thinking. But what I know is that Salima is very family oriented. She proposed her schedule when she was working for RR. The reason being is that she hated getting to the office early and getting home late at night at 11:00 and missing her family time. So he allowed her to get to work late instead of early and it worked for both sides. Being a head coach, I don't know how she is going to not work like any other head coach schedule and be successful.
