I guess we will find out more about the Love situation as things unfold but I certainly hope these rumors are only rumors. Her absence at the banquet certainly was noticed but there could be other reasons besides the rumor mill that she wasn't there.
Back to Mike Hebert's retirement party. The University Regents along with the Golddigger boosters were able to collect over the minimal amount required to endow a volleyball scholarship in Mike's name. We had to network under the radar so he wouldn't find out before the announcement was made. Mike is a very humble man but you could tell he was trilled as the names were read for those who contributed. We will probably receive more donations since there was much interest from those attending who also wanted to contribute.

What a dissappointment to log in this evening thinking that I might actually hear some good news about the gophers, like who the new coach will be, only to hear that it STILL hasn't been announced and on top of that, the rumors about Love transferring seem to be more true than rumor. Oh, and not even a spring schedule to boot. One thought is that a decision wasn't announced either late in the week or at the banquet was that they didn't want to take away from Mike's day. And, Scott will not be the coach, interim or long-term. Or course, it could be that no decision/arrangement has been made. I have also heard that Love talked about transferring after the 2009 season, too. Nothing on the spring season, I'm sure, because they haven't had anyone to coordinate.

Sorry whose offense runs around big OHs that can't pass or play defense?? Oh wait.. looks like she's transferring to PSU. I assume you're trying to bash Nicole Fawcett... which is pretty pathetic. I think her resume speaks for itself.

That is cool about the endowed scholarship. Nice tribute to Hebert for all that he did there.

Yeah, must be awful, what with all the national championships and all. I see a different pattern: national championship, national championship, national championship, and a national championship.

One of the most ignorant posts ever? You'd be in the running for sure. Darcy Dorton can pass and play defense. Check around. Ariel Scott did exactly what was asked of her. She wasn't even supposed to play this season, but did, and did very well considering the situation. She's not even a true outside hitter, if I remember correctly. Isn't she a middle originally? And, Nicole Fawcett can pass and play defense. Certainly not as well as some others, but she wouldn't have been left in for six rotations if her passing and defense was as bad as you're making it out to be. She isn't the strongest passer or defender, but she did it ALL SEASON LONG on the best team in the history of the sport and went undefeated on her way to NPOY honors and her fourth consecutive All-America award. Grow up. Your argument couldn't be more pathetic and is a disservice to her body of work as an athlete at PSU and as a member of our US National Team.

Both Dorton and Scott were SUBBED OUT in the backrow, and Fawcett was hidden for much of her career in serve recieve. She was used in the back for her lethal jump serving and pipe hitting, NOT for her passing and digging. Anyone that doesn't know that is kidding themselves. There is a reason why Fawcett pretty much is passed over on the national team, she brings nothing to the table other than hitting. The poster is merely point out that in the current championship era for Penn State, the non backrow OH has been an essential part of the success and Love fits that mold. stop being defense, it's sooooooooooooooooooooooo old.

There is a reason why Fawcett pretty much is passed over on the national team, she brings nothing to the table other than hitting. You know nothing about Russ Rose's philosophy on defense if you think that he'd leave Nic back there if she actually couldn't make plays. Again, she's certainly not the best passer or defender, but she did both on the best team in the history of the sport. Her serve and pipe attacking were obviously very useful weapons, but you don't think that having a front row of Blair Brown, Christa Harmotto, Megan Hodge, and Arielle Wilson WOULDN'T have been able to get the job done without them?! Give me a break... She's definitely not next in line for libero, but she is NOT as bad as you're making her out to be. Nic made HUGE strides as a passer and defender from 2006-2008. So huge that Russ allowed her to play all six rotations full-time in her senior season. Russ isn't an idiot... If she was THAT much of a liability, she wouldn't have been back there. Russ' outlook on defense supports that. He doesn't give up floor defense for offense. It's so stupid that a negative comment about Penn State was even posted by USAVolley16 on a Minnesota thread... #unnecessary #drama #getalife
