@ ugopher "And, shouldn't the AD run the show? " Great..and maybe..just maybe..you would want positive results? and I'll accept that dumbest person in the world award..considering I am almost always right ..and you sheep are not. The "sheep" card, right on time. I was interested in the wording of the press release in that they didn't specify when Hugh will be arriving. I imagine they still haven't figured that part out but wanted to announce the hire.

I find it profoundly pathetic when someone--say, just for example, goGopherBill--knows he's intensely disliked and does all he can to solidify his reputation out of the obvious belief that it's better to be disliked than ignored.

If Hugh is staying with the national team until after London (looks to be the case) the assistants for Laura have already been determined. Look for another announcement in the near future. Cound Marci Peniata be one of the assistants? If all goes according to the plan I was told - no. time will tell

I would hope it will be for the 2012 season. They may need to work out the exact date since the Olympics end on 08/12/12. I could see Hugh taking a couple of weeks off and joining the team in late August, early September.

I am taking it that he will stay on with the women until 2012, Laura will be the interim, they will hire someones who will be an amazing recruiter- mango will be happy, and a training coach. You are correct, sir!

So poor Laura..
Shes just an interim.
She's got the best recruiting class from a year ago. A legend made it to the final 4.
If she wins..she wont get credit..It was Mike's team.. If she loses ..she wont get blamed..she took a no win job.
I am so far ahead of the sheep on this..I really dont care what you think about me..think outside the narrow box..and look at How Joel arrived at this decision.
He can have less than stellar results and say..wait till next year.. The sheep term was used to convey ..that those that follow..( like sheep ) might be satisfied with that wait till next year cope out..while those who want and demand greatness generally will not accept it.
This just gave the AD a cushion..and to that end that is my beef.. not with you..Laura or Hugh..
I do not see this cushion working like SC..since this is NOT Southern California..Nor is it the National team..
so ..since I am so dumb I will stay away from here...and just be like everyone else who wont post because they are attacked personally with no moderation.. I get the warnings..( for being stupid..) thank you for allowing me to take up your valuable time.
No wonder R ..and others LEFT. Posters with 8 post get to rag on me.

I'm really pleased with this and I don't really get why GopherBill has to be a wet blanket. To me, this is very exciting and the future of MN volleyball is bright!

You'll be back Bill, because you crave attention. Trouble is, there are fewer and fewer members who read your posts.

how are the track records of other National team coaches that have gone on to college coaching? Terry L. is the first to come to mind. Not stellar.

Mick isn't doing too shabby a job at SC, neither is Kevin Hambly at Illinois
