So..MN went with the 2nd best option available. This is basically saying the AD is running the show. NOT great. So now will Hugh be able to bring all those foreign players from down under to give MN the edge. This brings in those pesky NCAA rules since he is now announced. and can he get 50 of the top 50 world class players to come to Mn for try outs? the answer will be no. watch for the transfers out and our record no better than 5th next year. Somehow I knew Jt was watching.. Ridiculous on its face. Total sour grapes and totally in standing with your history. How can anyone who is so pro Leonid knock Hugh with international player insinuations. As good as Yelin is, and I love him, you have to let go and be a little objective at some point. How did you not get on the search committee with your knowledge and background. |

" Great..and maybe..just maybe..you would want positive results? and I'll accept that dumbest person in the world award..considering I am almost always right ..and you sheep are not.  The "sheep" card, right on time. I was interested in the wording of the press release in that they didn't specify when Hugh will be arriving. I imagine they still haven't figured that part out but wanted to announce the hire. My take on the announcement regarding timing, is you don't want to say "after the London Olympics" when we haven't qualified as of yet. If something unthinkable happens, and we don't qualify he would probably resign and step over to Mn at that time. |

are people really complaining about this hire??? Hugh is the BEST hire Minnesota could have dreamed of. Count on a National Championship in the next 5 years. Only one people. Bill. (I don't even want to use the word Gopher for him because he is such a poor supporter of Gopher Athletics.) |

I'm really interested in knowing the assistant coach. Will have a big impact on any change in philosophy and, of course, recruiting. Love it that Laura said Hugh will definitely be involved in identifying recruits, because they will be his players. Will be interesting to see how the 2012 class shapes up now that he is part of the program. I know of only one recruit so far, an OH from 1st Alliance who is projected to be a DS/Libero. And I really hope we get one or two OH transfers for next fall.

Minnesota has gotten lucky the past few years with transfers. The transfer tree is not always that plentiful.

How did you not get on the search committee with your knowledge and background. Well, interestingly, GGB stated in a later response that "Hugh in 2012" was "2nd best" after "Hugh right away." So, since "Hugh right away" is and was not possible, GGB is apparently upset that Joel and company made the best hire that could be made in this reality. Beats me why that should make one upset or disappointed. |
