regardless of McCutcheon's reasons for leaving - agree/disagree and if/when this is going to happen ... this guy is a terrific coach and has been terrific for the usa olympic program
this will be a loss for the womens team - who knows whats going to happen. I'd say that there is certainly a hole on the men's side, as Knipe is no McCutcheon, and would guess Speraw is just kind of waiting for his time. How does this translate to the womens side of things longer term??

I have zero beef with the job he has done, or his decision to go to Minnesota. I think however he needs to make a decision in the best interest of not him, but the athletes of the two teams.

While I dont profess to know the official status, he is listed on the UM website as current head coach, and I do know he is recruiting. I think its funny that he is listed as the current head coach of the US women, and the current head coach of the UM Gophers. Evidently this guy is really good. I've read enough of your posts to know you know what you"re talking about. There are many facets to recruiting. Which is he involved in? Is he just watching, or talking to coaches, calling recruits, writing notes and letters? If he's doing all that, that may be why they haven't announced the other assistant. They can only have a limited number (3?) coaches recruiting.

Having only 1-2 people on current staff would indeed allow him to recruit.

And I've read enough of keystone's comments to know he is being disingenuous. He is the master of "I'm not saying something, but I'm saying exactly that."
Keystone doesn't know what is going on. He certainly doesn't know what Hugh is thinking. He does, however, apparently know how to whine on behalf of certain other coaches.

I guess the real question, just like when will Hugh arrive, is what coaches are there? -We have Hugh at the top at arriving at a date TBD -We have Laura as the acting Head Coach -Is Scott still there day to day doing active duties? I know not too long ago he was doing scheduling stuff with other teams -There was another male and female rumored to be assistants during the interim period. There are 4-5 people in the mix that could be on staff. That may be stretching it a bit in the recruiting game. Has Hugh been able to study that thick NCAA manual that fast to get certified to recruit?

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, and I agree I dont know what he is thinking. I am not suggesting anything or being cryptic in any way. I simply stated he is recruiting. I would like to ask how I am whining about him recruiting? I have offered zero criticism of him, and aknowledged it is permissable for him to do so. Just as I wont profess to know what Hugh is thinking, Id appreciate if you wouldnt profess what my motives are. I didnt express any opinion on him recruiting whatsoever.

It's not legal for him to be recruiting unless he is one of the three sanctioned coaches from MN to be allowed to do so. He also needs to have passed his test. How do you know he was recruiting?

In light of McCutcheon's decision to remain with the USA Women through Sept 1, 2012, I just wanted to bump this thread back up to the top to show you how stupid rumors get spread on VT by people who REALLY DON'T HAVE A CLUE AND PASS ON OPINION OR HEARSAY AS TRUTH
I would just like to tell you all that you truly are one big group of
DUMBASSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course if he changes his mind again someone will bump up your post. Better make sure his decision is etched in stone before bringing out the size 48 font.

The only way it changes from Sep 1, is if USA fails to qualify for Olympics. Then it would be a no brainer and no one at USAV would stand in his way.

Actually I put it in as 60 point font but I guess the size option is capped at 48. And since when have I ever cared about being wrong on this forum or what anyone would say if I were actually wrong, which of course I never am.
