I don't follow these teams closely. Can someone clue me in as to when the season runs for foreign leagues? Will seniors this year move directly on to some of these teams now or are the rosters set already? Just curious about how this all works and when current college players may start to show up overseas.

Grun will be a big help at least she's a better option than either Makarova or Yaneva IMHO. It depends how you compare Grun and Yaneva i.e. what are you looking for (I don't know Dinamo's priorities): Yaneva is a primary passer. She can put balls away but she hasn't been a "go to" hitter since she left CSKA- Sofia. Grun on the other hand has always been the "killing machine" but her passing is not where it's supposed to be for an OH at that level (she spent most of her career as OPP). I watched her at the last ECH where she played as an OH for GER and her reception was so-so (even though people say it has improved a lot since she spent time playing beach vball). The above comments are genaral ones because if Dinamo uses Yaneva as an OPP (she used to play as such early in her career), than it is no brainer.

Pro club season generally runs from October to May although some leagues (like Puerto Rico, Brazil, China and Korea) are shorter whereas European leagues and Japan have longer seasons. Most rosters are complete by now, but clubs can transfer/sign players throughout the season if they want to make changes. Some leagues have a cutoff for the transfer period (e.x. until January) while other leagues do not have that restriction and can bring in players even if it's already April (say, for the playoffs).

I've found an online replay of Dinamo M - Muszyna game and I'm watching it now. Yaneva plays OH. BTW an observation of mine: The camera had a few close-ups of Kaczor. Her face looks a lot differently than it was while she was in USC. Pale, gaunt ....and missing a front tooth

Now I thought it was a wrong move by Tom to sign with Fenerbahce. She's been on the bench ever since the season started.

Ze is always weird/dumb about line-ups and subs, so I'm not surprised he won't change it to put Tom in. It might not be a bad thing though, she'll be in good shape and practicing against the best for the Olympic year, but won't be worn out by playing a bunch of matches....

My thoughts exactly.......Tom is at a point in her career where she knows what she's capable of doing and executing and it doesn't worry me much that she isn't getting a lot of match play. However, what does concern me is that the Turkish League matches have foreign player restrictions which makes the prospects of her playing in those matches even less. It's one thing to sit out for matches here and there but to not be utilitized practically the entire professional season could be detrimental.

Probably Ze Roberto just wants to get Tom out of shape so brazil has a better chance to beat USA next year. I don't know, but Solokova didn't play well recently and still gets the nod over Logan.

I think Ze just often makes bad line-up choices. From the Brazilian NT, see: Fabiola/Dani Lins shuffling being handled poorly, Tandara probably playing the best ball on the team this fall and not seeing the court, Adenizia and Juciely not ever getting the chance to see the court even when MBs are struggling (and this was the case with Thaisa too before Walewska retired)..... he obviously does a lot of things well, but a lot of the things he does just make me wonder

My friend joked that maybe the reason Ze Roberto signed Logan (even though they were loaded at OH) was to make sure that no one from their opponents would have her on their team. ;D
In an interview earlier in the week, Ze Roberto said that he has a lot of quality players, that he personally handpicked all the players they signed and he wants them on the team.
Naturally, the question of Logan's playing time comes up often from Turkish fans.
After the win vs Rabita, a local said that they approached Logan Tom to say they want to see her play more and that they are getting mad at Ze Roberto about it, to which Logan replied (translated) "Please don't worry about it. It's not a problem."
It's certainly an interesting strategy by Ze Roberto and I'm curious how the season plays out.

GS Caltex (Korea) ended the contract with Becky Perry. Not sure where she's going to go.
Harmotto and Barboza have lucked out, however. Their setter for Modena, Fernandinha, is leaving, but apparently they're gonna get Ognjenovic instead!

I am thinking the same thing. Maybe Ze Roberto wants Tom to be out of shape so that Brazil will have a chance to beat the US in the next Olympics. I wish Tom just picked Dinamo Moscow or any of the Italian clubs. It could really be detrimental in the long run.. Ognjenovic will be a good replacement, way way better than Fernandinha. Maja's fans have been wanting her to play this year in club as preparation for the Olympic games.

I mean, the club season ends more than 2 months before the OG, and there's still the World Grand Prix before. Unless he's holding her out of practice, there's no way Tom would still be out of shape by the time the medal rounds start. If anything, this is just saving her from over use.
