What happened to Crimes? She was doing very well from B-B.

I was wondering, too. Crimes didn't play in their last league match either.

Seems strange that Lichtman wouldn't be on the floor. None of those players seem to be able to pass.

Lichtman again in to serve, her role this season.
I always like Polsat's video quality. And even better, are their replays. Almost any controversial call, they'll replay the point in slow motion and you can clearly see whether there are touches off the block, if the ball is in/out, if the attacker crossed the 3m line, etc.

Tama looked rough, at least for the last game that I watched.

If there's one thing that I would expect Hodge to immediately be able to improve, it would be her jumpserve. It just seems to me that's something she can work on by herself or on her own time.

I would agree. Has all the tools to be a world class server, but has issues with her technique, primarily her toss.

I was wondering, too. Crimes didn't play in their last league match either. Seems she has some injury, she was sitting on bench and didn't seem fit to play.

I've always contended that Hodge's serve problems are primarily mental. Last season, her Italian coach encouraged her to go back and rip at the serve every time. She did have some errors, but boy she was ripping apart the serve receive when she got them in. I would contend she was more consistenly getting the ball in when she was going after the serve. I was under the impression that Hugh let his jumpservers be more aggressive on the serve, too. I don't know what Alessandro Chiappini's instructions in Atom are, but it's not like Hodge would be thinking that she's gonna get benched on that team if she makes more errors serving. They are already down one OH (Ozsoy to Krasnodar) and I don't see anyone else who they would rather start. It'd be nice to see her go to the service line and be mentally free enough to just go after her serve. By the end of club season, it could be one less reason why Larson is starting over her.

I don't quite understand it either. I saw a tentative server out of Hodge at Penn State..... even her first stints with the national team. Then.... her first few italian league matches, I saw the same tentative Hodge at the service line. Mid-way through the season, she was racking up as many aces and services winners as anyone in the league. Such progress!
Her first match back with the national team, same old tentative Hodge at the service line. Something that Italian coach was saying or doing was working.
