Berg had some shoulder issues. Saw the press release. Situation was just weird, like something more was going on. Big win for Cortese though!

I watched the reply of ASPTT MULHOUSE (FRA) - Rabita BAKU (AZE) the other night and was amused to see what they used for ball carts. Also, the PA guy, sheesh.

Carts are not uncommon ;D Well the simplicity of it is exquisite. I'm in my last year of booster co-chair for dd's HS team, so this year when coach asks me for two more ball carts I'll just walk across the street to Cub Food instead of ordering online!

Polish media reported that Hodge and A Glass didn't get paid in their club. If it's true, that's so bad. And the club is planing to release one of the three setters (Glass, Belcik and Wilk). www.sport.pl/sport/1,65025,11086289,Trwa_rozpad_zespolu_siatkarek_Atomu_Trefl_Sopot__Beda.html

Kozuch's contract (the league's highest) is rumored to be 790k zloty (190k Euro). If she isn't getting paid, it's likely that the other foreigners aren't either. When news about Atom's financial difficulties broke early December and it was reported that Hodge, Glass, etc. hadn't received paychecks then, I thought they wouldn't leave. Not because I thought the financial problems weren't real (it was obvious that they had a deficit), but because the agreement with the Americans from the start was -- if they come in late (after World Cup, no pre-season), they get paid late. Since then, Atom has already lost Neriman Ozsoy (TUR) to Russia and recently Amaranta Fernandez (ESP) and their physical trainor, so I'm no longer as confident. If players get released now, the timing could be a problem with regard to (closed/closing) transfer windows.

Rumor mill says it's probable no Berg for upcoming league match either what happened to her? Injury? A slight shoulder injury according to the club's press release two matches ago. But I've been told by friends that the real reason is different. The reason though isn't being disclosed and I hadn't pressed them about it. I just know that Berg isn't the kind of player to be kept away by a slight injury and right now she isn't even in uniform, she's watching from the stands. Hopefully the matter is soon resolved and she is back on the court where she belongs.

Is she holding out because she isn't getting payed?

In today's league match, Kozuch and a German middle (I forgot her name) refused to play and will not travel to Baku next Thursday to play in the Champions League. They (along with Hodge and Glass) didn't get paid since last October.

Those who will stay would probably be doing so for a lot less money.
