I think Cal, Davis, UCLA and Poly should and all be in the top 10, with the 5 of Oshkosh, Arizona, Illinois, Lakeland, Central Florida. The Far Westerns was a good measuring stick for the Western Teams, and NCCVL play is a considerably tough league. I have no clue who Maryland has played so they get the 10 spot due to ignorance. And Indiana is OUT of the top 25.

It was rough for Utah Valley at the Far Westerns tournment, as they didnt have their starting libero which hurt them a lot. Still tieing 5th is a great accomplishment anyway. But I think they would have surprised more teams if they did have him. Next weekend is the Mountain West Confrence championships. It will be a good match between Arizona and Utah Valley.

My Top 25 1. Oshkosh (No Doubt) 2. Arizona (Wish they would have played an Illinois or Lakeland to really gauge by UCF match said plenty. 3. Illinois 4. Lakeland 5. UC Davis (Far Western Winner) 6. Cal- Berkeley (Far Western Runner-UP, NCCVL Leader) 7. Central Florida ( Great Showing at HI- but took two losses, to Oshkosh and Arizona) 8. UCLA 9. Cal- Poly ( Far Western 3rd Place, 2nd in NCCVL) 10 Maryland 11.Ohio State (HI Semi-Finalist, 4th in Big Tens though? ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) ) 12. Notre Dame ( Won Pool By Beating Ohio State, Then ran into the buzzsaw of Arizona and then Oshkosh, WOW) 13. Colorado (HI GOLD, Won Pool, 2 losses Illinois and Central Florida) 14. Utah Valley State ( Will rebound after Far Westerns) 15. Santa Clara 16. Penn State 17. Michigan State ( Loss in Pool Play at HI, Won Crossover, Lost to Navy, 2nd at Big Tens) 18. Marquette (Winning Silver at HI Keeps them in Top 25) Honorable Mention (No Particular Order): Indiana Miami U Georgia Florida State San Diego State Grand Valley State Miami University Pittsburgh Iowa State Teams not playing in HI or Far Westerns will be hurt in the March 1 rankings. Teams that played well in those tourneys will be rewarded and those that didnt will be penalized.

I dunno if we (Purude) should even be considered for ranked in the HM. I mean we have some good players on our team but we have been under performing all semester. We are going to go to the UCF tourny in about a week so we are definately looking forward to playing such a strong team in UCF. Maybe IF we can beat them then some kind of credit would be due to us. But until then i dont think our team belongs in the mix at all.

A&M, currently ranked #9, has to drop more than five spots if they are gonna lose to a DII team like Baldwin-Wallace, sorry.

My list has been under construction all day. Tom, roger on the 5 spot move, when I noticed they(A&M) went 2-3 at the tourney I knew I had to move them, I just hadnt done it yet. And Purdue has been removed, San Diego State Added.

Most of the rankings look pretty close, but I have a few disagreements:
1: Your gonna put Ohio State at 12, ahead of Notre Dame?? OSU did make the semis but collectively beat Western Illinois, Illinois-B, Ball State, a Texas A+M team that lost to Baldwin Wallace and almost lost to an IU team that’s the guys on the team say doesn't deserve top 25 status, Wright State and lost to Arizona by a ton and most importantly lost to Notre Dame, a team that’s closer to their caliber.
2: You said it yourself, Notre Dame beat OSU and only lost to Arizona and Oshkosh, yet they drop 2 spots in the next set of rankings? I agree, some of those Cal teams need to move up, and its tough finding results, the SCCVL website is almost as bad as the NCCVL one. Nobody's made a great case for UCLA on the board. They beat Cal-Berkeley once in a close game and got beat badly another time. They don't automatically deserve top 10 status.
Final answer: 5) Davis 6) Cal 7) Maryland (Nobody knows what they've done, so they stay at 7) 8) UCF 9) Cal Poly 10) Notre Dame (Haven't lost to anyone not named Oshkosh/Arizona) 11) Colorado (Had a rough draw of it at HI) 12) UCLA 13) OSU (Good team, nice finish, still alot to prove)
Or something like that...

That's a very good set of rankings! The challenge, as always, is to slot in the Caly teams with the midwest and others, where some crossover play has now occurred.

1. About UCLA, they are in the my top 10 because they finished T-3 at Far Westerns and Beat Cal in the morning of Far-Westerns, the team that eventually knocked them out.
2. Dont know if Note Dame would have beaten anyone else at HI, if they were not on Oshkosh's side of the bracket. Thats not my concern. I do know if they T-5 and Ohio State T-3. Thats why Ohio State should be ahead based on HI. Using that criteria, we could also punish Arizona because they only beat UCF and didnt have to face Illinois or Lakeland. Teams that beat those put in front of them should get rewarded and thats what Ohio State did. 3. I have this feeling that since Maryland hasnt been to any of the big tourneys and hasnt posted any results, they will drop to the edge or out of the top 10.
4. Oh and Colorado, they went 3-0 in pools at HI by winning 18-16 twice in the third and 16-14 once to teams like Cinci, NIU and Oshkosh2 and then lost out to Illinois and Central Florida. I am not sure what to say about that. Good resilience? I dont know. But hey they did more than most could in situations like that.
Gotta love constructive banter, but I smell ya ideas though.

The other thing I forgot to add in my last post as I got preoccupied looking up SCCVL and NCCVL scores was Wisconsin needing to drop. It appeared they came to play Saturday, lost to UCF which is an ok loss, but then dropped a crossover match to Western Illinois. Crossover matches are basiclly the first game of the playoffs for teams in them, a match teams MUST have, and there's no excuse for dropping one like that. Was there a reason they went silver, like not having a starter or something this weekend?

I have no idea what happened on the second day for them. But I understand losing crossovers is unacceptable (we sure the hell lost one on saturday) but they played so well at Big Tens its hard to cast them out of the 25.

Does anyone know how the rankings are done? Like, who has say in the rankings, are they done by one person, or multiple people/coaches, whatever?
