There are a few games left in the season, and we'll have a MPSF Turnament contest soon when the pairings are announced...I love to have fun! ;D Just for the fun of it, I'd like to hear what FOUR teams will be presented in the Final Four. I don't want the win-loss predictions yet, just who you feel will be the 4. I still feel they should have a sweet 16 on the road to the Finals, but no one listens to me. Anyway, I see the Final Four this way: MPSF: Pepperdine EIVA: Rutgers-Newark will upset Penn State for the honors. MIVA: Lewis & Loyola will battle, but Lewis will prevail. "Good ole nemesis" Hawaii will get the at-large bid.

MIVA -- Penn State MPSF - Pepperdine EIVA - Lewis At Large - Hawai'i
BYU gets the bid IF they upset UH in the MPSF tourney, however.
Pepperdine will defeat Lewis in the opener Hawai'i will defeat Penn State
Pepperdine vs. Hawai'i is a fun rematch from last year... Go warriors.

As we have seen in the past in both the men's and women's games, great teams get you the good draw but great players are the ones that win you a championship. I couldn't agree more with your picks.

Hey VBCrusin.
I appreciate that 'token gesture" for pickin Rutgers (my daugther played for Rutgers-New Brunswick Womens Volleyball Team).
To reciprocate, I'll make my 'token gesture' by pickin the Pepperdine Waves as one of the Final Four Teams.
I'm stickin with my preseason picks: Hawaii, Penn State, Lewis and Pepperdine (At Large - Hint, Hint).

Hey BIG
You've got some "Huevos", pickin Pacific over Pepperdine. I like it. Aaron Wachtfogel got to have a good tournament. I've followed that Kid when he was a junior player and played with my son is some beach tournaments at Hermosa Beach. Aaron is a special student/athlete. BA Degree in 3 years, MBA in 4 years, and entering Law School in the Fall. BOOKUMDANOALOHA

This year makes me especially sick that the MIVA and EIVA get an automatic bid, and there is only a final FOUR. Lewis is WAY over-ranked at #5 and has a loss to unranked USC under their belts, and Penn State is ranked #9 and has been basically hanging around all season with no respectable wins all year.
So we are looking at a Final Four with two teams who are barely inside the Top 10, while eight other good MPSF teams get hosed and have to watch from the bleachers in the Pyramid.
If the NCAA is going to have only a Final Four then it should all be at large bids, or in a perfect world the AVCA poll would be accurate and they would take the top four teams from there.
I'm out.

Hey Beachy...don't be a chicken. Choose before Squirrel Boy(roofan) does. Where is your pride? Hey BIG...interesting choices. I believe that Pacific has to win the MPSF to make it to the Finals. Even if Pep loses the MPSF, they probably would be the At-Large choice. Hey Bookum...I watched Pacific barely beat Long Beach last night. Even with Wachtfogel, they have a tough road ahead in the tournament. And if Rutgers beats Penn State for the Final nod, I'll beat everyone, since EVERYONE thinks that Lewis and Penn State will be the choices (very good choices too), but I haven't predicted any upsets this year. Keep your fingers crossed. As far as our BET and Pep getting in (at-large or otherwise), just bring your Hawaii shirt (XL please), and not the Junior Miss you wear. Hey Yikies...you make some excellent points. The stronger MPSF should have more teams involved, which is WHY I think we should have a Sweet 16 or Sweet 10 (whatever). Maybe we should have a "letter campaign" to the NCAA?

sorry switch my EIVA and MIVA teams, as if any of them deserve to be in the Final Four anyway.

Why does it only make you sick this year? Nothing has changed in terms of receiving bids to the Final Four. This argument comes up every year. Time to stop beating a dead horse.
Each and every coach in the MIVA/EIVA/MPSF knows the criteria for making the Final Four before the season begins - it has been that way all the way back to the pre-MPSF days of the WIVA conference.
Instead of complaing that "yadda yadda should be in the dance they have PHAT GAME" or "I can't believe those MIVA/EIVA yokels ALWAYS get the automatic berths, they are a buncha barneys", be thankful that the NCAA continues to sponsor the men's volleyball national championship tournament, because they really don't have to given how few programs there are in the country.
AVCA rankings mean very little, since all the voting members are men's coaches anyway, many of whom have never played or seen on tape the teams they are ranking each week.
