Look at last years Final Four. Ball State almost beat Pepperdine. Some of you will say "Yeah they came close but they DIDN"T". They were as good as Waves were, but Pepperdine had more luck. Odbojkas You make me laugh... Ball State is 0-15 in Final 4 semifinal matches since 1970, and you have the guts to say they are going to roll to a championship...?! 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1979, 1984, 1985, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1994, 1995, 1997, and 2002 ALL ended in semifinal losses...why should 2003 be any different? I can understand you picking them to go to the Final 4, they have proved they can go that far... but a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP... i doubt it. Teams like Pepperdine and Hawaii are not lucky, they are skilled. There is a reason MPSF teams win every single year (except 1)... no EIVA or MIVA team plays the kind of competition all year to prepare them for such tough matches come crunch time. That's because their conferences stink with the exception of 2 or 3 teams out of 10. Ball State will continue to be the "Phil Mickelson" of Men's volleyball... always the bridesmaid, NEVER the bride. Have fun with 3rd boys (AT BEST!) Tigfan

Hey Tigfan... Don't underestimate Ball State...they could be the "sleeper" this year (much like Pacific). I was at the Ball State vs Pepperdine semifinal match last year, and The Cards were a very decent team (and tall too). They gave Pepperdine a real great match and it wasn't a cakewalk either. They're returning setter Keith Schunzel, Libero Josh Hall, OH Jary Delgado & Josh Zuidema, AND MH Matthew Denmark. Ball State is the real deal this year as well. Check the NCAA stats and you'll find 6'8" MH Matthew Demark 15th in hitting percentage, 6'8" OH Kyle Weindel 3rd in aces, OH Jary Delgado 17th in aces, Setter Keith Schunzel 15th in dig average and 4th in assist average. Plus, the MIVA (in my opinion is a tougher Region than the East)...with Lewis, Loyola-Chicago, Ohio State and Indiana-Purdue, FW. I wish fans would stop saying that there aren't any decent teams outsdie the MPSF, because there are! Will Ball State win the Finals? If they get that far, they have an equal chance against anyone. Remember...with this rally scoring, if one team has an off night (too many errors), anyone can beat anyone on any given night. Besides, Ball State has a great team this year and if they can pass, dig, serve and hit, they'll be a contender!! Take it from me first hand...after Pepperdine beating Hawaii 3 times in the MPSF last year, I thought that the Waves would crash over the Warriors in the Finals. The match was a GREAT one, but a couple of Pep players made too many errors, AND Hawaii played the greatest match of their season that night. Win or lose, it was a match many will remember the rest of their lives. Yes, the MPSF has VERY STRONG teams each year, but I predict that the MIVA & EIVA have been closing the talent gap each year for the past few years (and in the future). They may surprise you. In any event, ALL TRUE VOLLEYBALL FANS will appreciate any team of these talented athletes, NO MATTER where they play. Quit the "my team is better than your team" immature bantering and appreciate what it takes to be a Div. 1 player...ENJOY great, competitve volleyball! Amen.

I have no doubt that they could make it to the Final 4...in fact, I expect it... but I've got history on my side.
Go tigers

HIstory on your side, huh?
You just made another big mistake. Look what happened to Kentucky. They won 25 straight mathces, and lost before they reached final four. Every loss that BSU has, they have that more chances of actually winning. They are sick of loosing.
So you got nothing on your side bro...

So you got nothing on your side bro... Except a Hawai'i fan who will agree with him that the National Champion will come from the MPSF. It's a three horse race.

Hawai'i fan huh?
Look at you man. Your fans beat up Lewis players right before the match with "Wariors". You guys suck. What kind of sportsmenship is that. You shouldn't have changed your mascot either. You islanders are true RAINBOWS and even recruit only players who are on the RAINBOW side if you know what i mean.
And one more thing, Hawai'i fan. You messed up again. According to you it will be "TWO" horse race because only two MPSF teams will make it to FINAL 4. But, unfortunately you are wrong again, because BSU is taking it home this year.
We are the champions my RAINBOW friend, and we will keep on fighting till the end, no time for losers like you, Islanders have no clue, Eat your pineapple and enjoy the sun, because in the Pyramid you'll have no fun.
Peace im outie, tell these people something they dont know about me....

What are the chances that Ball State will even advance to the final of their own conference tournament, much less qualify for the trip to the Pyramid?

oh god! Ramesses, why would you EVER say that about another team? that's so horrible and it's bad enough the volleyball doesn't get much publicity, but there's fans like you. there's a difference between post-season bantering and just being downright rude.
grow up.
and tigfan, why are you dissing ball state so much? in my opinion, they are just as good as your tigers. i don't think they'll make the final four, though; i picked loyola.

Ramsses, you went a little crazy there. Plus I am not positive but I don't think it was actually Hawaii fans that beat up the Lewis players but rather just some random gang who just wanted to fight. I don't think it had anything to do with volleyball. Also, you really should be more worried about your team making it out of their conference first, Lewis and Loyola are going to be tough to get through.

What I mean by three horse race is Pepperdine, Hawai'i, and BYU. Yes there will only be 2 MPSF representatives, but as of yet, those two teams are unknown. The National semi finals ( at least this year ) will only be a formality. I find your rantings more amusing than insulting, and fwiw, I've written better jingles in the 5th grade .

What are the chances that Ball State will even advance to the final of their own conference tournament, much less qualify for the trip to the Pyramid? You're definetely right because IPFW literally 'spanked' BSU's a** 2 weeks ago (3-0) and showed that they are in good shape. Loyola beat Lewis as well. It doesn't matter who plays good first, what matters is who plays better when it comes to late April. I think IPFW and Loyola are going to play the final game in MIVA. And the teams which are going to shine in the Pyramid will be Penn State, IPFW, Pepperdine and Stanford. Ptak and Toppel are just too good for the opposing teams in their conferences. Anybody disagree?

Yeah, IPFW did beat BSU, but BSU killed them when they played them at Worthern Arena. That just prooves that Dons can't play in big places, just like Ohio State's St. Johns Arena. I do agree that they have chance to win, but will NOT.
