Please don't forget that Loyola did the same exact thing to OSU. OSU "Must" have had a bad night, right? The MIVA crown is up for grabs. Not only did I not forget that, but I included the 30-15 drubbing in my original point. Reread vb's point about OSU not being able to put 20 on Loyola, and it sounds like the two have not met this year. If vb had included the word "again" in the argument, I'd understand. As it was, I was (and still am) addled over the Loyola-OSU argument. To add TO that argument, remember: the three teams that beat OSU were beaten BY the Buckeyes at home. Believe e, I'm not sitting here assuming they'll win the tourney, but I'm trying to look at all the factors here.

You keep forgetting that playoff VB is a different game...just like pro basketball, when playoff time comes the game changes. The game is defensively more intense, the digging and passing is more magnified. Middle play is where succesful teams take advantage. Many times it is the middle threat that slows down the defensive double blocks.
Coaching and style of play is huge in the post season. "Slow-high" OSUball is a big problem in the playoffs.
In the MIVA, if you had one game to win....who would you want to be your coach? Even the OSU players would probably want the LUC coaches.. youth, playing experience, rapport with players, and knowledge of the game.

vb have you even seen osu play this year? OSU's offense in system is as fast or faster than any other team in their conference. IPFW is the slow-high ball team ths year.

One game to win, Arnie and his army of coaches (and big clipboards) is who I'd go with. No disrespect to the Loyola coaches but they still have to prove they can get their team to the final four. Whatever it may be they haven't gotten the job done there ever. Yes they had good regular seasons the last few, but they always fizzle down the stretch.

Vb east. OSU volleyball is slow and boring. That setter that they have is not a setter is "ball thrower". If you dont know about setting, then please do not talk anymore.
OSU have good players in Stevens borother, Klein, and the libero. However, injuries and overuse will be the point in few weeks.
A lot of talent in the bench , but he never use them.
This is going to be between LU or my Don's.

Anybody who suggests the OSU offense is slow this year is exposing their self as (a) someone who hasn't seen OSU play this year and/or (b) someone who is more interested in throwing bombs than making reasoned assessments.
Ohio State may not win the conference (it won't be easy) and they be poorly coached (I disagree) and their setter may be a bad setter (again, I disagree). But, should they lose due to lousy coaching and shaky setting, it won't be because the offense is slow.
I don't have a dog in this fight, I care neither if Ohio State wins the next 15 national championships nor if they never win a game again, but I do feel compelled to correct this point.

Hey...I am not a LUC fan. I am pointing out how well LUC is playing PLAYOFF STYLE vb right now. OSU has the historic problem with Matthews. It is well documented, so I will not go into it. My only hope is that the MIVA gets two teams in the final four. I am tired of the FF being stacked in favor of the MPSF. An EIVA or MIVA might beat one MPSF team....but never two back to back.

Hottest team in the MIVA? Loyola, or Ball State based upon last week, but I would put money on Loyola over BSU. OSU is struggling, to say the least. And since it doesn't look like Meske is going to be near 100%, that makes their job tougher. Who wins the thing is anyone's guess. There are 4 teams that have a legit chance to represent the MIVA, but they are not all equal. vbcosta14, how can you say that OSU has a lot of talent on the bench when their performance has suffered since their best option on offense at the season's start, Meske, went down? Versen has done well, but he is not as strong as Meske at OP. Who is their 3rd MB? 3rd OH? Morales has hardly ever played? If Mathews is so bad, then how good is Morales? Depth? At the Loyola match, I think they had 10 guys in uniform. And how can a player be "overused?" And when OSU is in system, they have a pretty solid quick attack from Dreven and Albertson. Is that a slow and high-ball offense? Especially when Dreven is top 3 in hitting percentage, regardless of their schedule? vb - the only "historical documentation of problems" regarding Mathews is from you and vbcosta14. Other historical documentation is OSU going to the Final Four his frosh year, his winning MVP of the MIVA tourney that year, his winning FOY and, I believe, 2nd team all-MIVA (might be wrong there) that year. 1st team all-MIVA last year. Fluke?

Oh yeah, I forgot this disclaimer:
"These are the musings of a fanatic. The statements above are not based in fact, logic, or any form of rational thought. I am wearing a rainbow wig and a big foam finger as I type these rants and raves, and my face is painted and their is a big 'OSU' painted on my chest."
