USA has a re-match with Korea for a chance to play for a gold medal. The match will be held at 7am PT (have a heart attack with your morning coffee, west coasters!), 10am ET.
Korea is so, so dangerous. They are a team with a lot of confidence, and Kim Y. K.
If Larson isn't producing offensively, we need to bring in Hodge to maximize the left-side attack.
Thoughts/predictions?

I have a really bad feeling that it will be a 3-1 Korean victory.

Hugh will have the block keyed on Kim tomorrow and will force her into rethinking her attack. CT gets the call again with LB being done. Larson's productivity will not be an issue with CT making much more use of her middles. Hodge will get her gold medal but it won't be for playing in more than one game.

What does the Hodge comment mean? I think he means that Hodge won't be needed/won't play.

I think Larson has been playing more than okay. Her defense has been very good. I think we have been playing tough team and things are not easy when we played Leading up to the Olympics. Don't get me wrong about Hodge's hitting skills but defensively not even close to Larson. Some of the other players need to step up their blocking which will help us a lot. Nicole had a great match yesterday so hopefully she can build on her confidence. GO USA.

USA 3-0. No reason we'll need to see Hodge or any other bench player.

USA 3-0. No reason we'll need to see Hodge or any other bench player. I'd love to know where you get this confidence from. Korea swept Brazil and beat Italy in 4... They're good.

I don't think they match up well with the US. No team deals well with our block and not enough of their players serve tough enough to pull us out of system as frequently as will be needed to really give us problems. As long as we serve Kim, make sure we close out the block on her, and as long as Davis, Tom, and Larson, pass well, it'll be smooth sailing. Beating Brazil is certainly a good win, although as I've reiterated many times, they're not the Brazil of a few years back. They've lost their edge. And from the start I felt Italy played rather mediocre for what you 'd expect given their individual talent. How many unforced errors did they have against Korea, they were horrendous for stretches of that match and it had nothing to do with what Korea was doing. Kim's great, but she isn't enough. We're going to smother her in serves and blocking. She'll get hers to a degree, she's just that good, but unless her teammates play out of their minds, it's just going to be a standard 3-0, maybe 3-1 match for the US. Maybe a couple sets will be tight, but I just don't believe they can severely threaten the US.

What does the Hodge comment mean? Means that Hodge has seen her PT for this Olympics. Now she's a cheerleader. Do I hear AA#11 running screaming down the forum hallway??

If Larson struggles on offense I bet Hugh would not hesitate to put Hodge in again. I doubt he would replace Tom, though, except in the case of an injury.

The time you consider going to Hodge is if the opponent has a strong block over our lefts like China did. Korea, Japan, and even Brazil, really don't present that kind of problem. The only way Larson or Tom is pulled in favor of Hodge from here on out is if either of them goes completely off the rails, meaning shanks, poor serving, the whole nine.

We will need to limit Han Soon Yi (the other outside) and the middles. Italy could have withsood the KIMslaught, but gave up too many point to the others. We also need to serve tough to limit Korea's combinatino plays. We're not used to seeing that many tandems and weird stuff.
