I don't know about Bricio's "request." I have, however, always been curious about the following quid pro quo element of volleyball (and sports in general):
(1) I sign with you if you give ___________ (family member, significant other, spouse) a job. (2) I sign with you if, in a couple of years, my kid sister gets to play here, too. (3) I sign with you if your school admits my kid sister.
I always find the above three in various programs. In some cases, it's possible no demands were made. But it's odd that, say, a team has four Croatians and one of the assistants is a Croatian. Sure, helps with the language translation. Or, I find two sisters on the team, one of whom is clearly out of her element. Or, the mother of one male player becomes an assistant for the women's team at the same school.

What are the chances that Bricio makes First Team All-American? If I recall, only a few freshmen have ever been named to the first team. The argument for her is that she has largely carried the Trojans, a potential Final Four (or at least quarterfinal) team, on offense. The argument against her is her relatively low hitting percentage on the year, at only .239, and the fact imo Hagglund plays an even more vital role on that team. Tough call.... Hagglund will be first-team, does USC deserve two?? We'll see, but I don't think so. Anything lower than 2nd team would be surprising. I agree, the first choice from USc would be Hagglund. I just don't see Bricio making it to the first team unless she starting to have monstrous stats from now on. Even then, the chances are slim. They are so many great players around.

And in a couple years she'll even look like she's old enough to be in college. NO LIE. But even now she is the smoothest, most effortless talent I have EVER seen. With a swing, wrist turns and serve that stun.. coming from a baby face (Big) little girl. And no I am not a SC booster. I can dig some LSJU Indians too...Burgess, Inky and Howard. My O my.

Bricio is really smooth.. makes me think she could hit an incredibly fast offense just as effectively if she got a chance.

What were her "requests"? Chalupas in the buffet line for team dinners. She drives a hard bargain, that one. Hey, why not throw in all the ethnic stereotypes. Maybe she wanted to wear a sombrero in games. What you think meester?

First time I saw her play on the tube I was really impressed. She is fun to watch, hits the ball as hard as anyone in the conference and is an outstanding server. Man can she crush from the pipe. Absolutely no question she'll improve in the next three years. Her passing is dreadful. Notice how SC hides her on serve receive. She seems to have decent technique, but no consistency. She's quick, but her defense needs a lot of work. Now if she just weren't a Trojanette...hmmm.

What you think meester? How about she made it over the border because she is quick and can jump so well? (Come to think of it, there is some truth to it ;D)

What you think meester? What the hell are you talking about? A chalupa is not an "ethnic stereotype". It is a food dish native to Mexico and very common in Mexican food. It is entirely rational to think that someone who grew up in Mexico might want to have some of those food items when travelling. Have you ever travelled abroad? Do you know how many Americans (of ALL ethnicities) go to Paris for a tour of french museums and history, but within the first two days make a stop at McDonald's to order a "Royal Cheese"? Black, white, brown, chartreuse, whatever the ethnicity, Americans pack into USA-based chain restaurants in other countries, for a little taste of home. When it became known that Sydney Yogi was probably going to sign with Texas, we had Hawai'i fans here musing on whether she'd miss getting to eat chicken katsu. You really need to grow a sense of humor.

You really need to grow a sense of humor. People need to stop using sense of humor as a defense to make fun of others and stereotype. You can still be funny while not being potentially offensive and not opening yourself up to be perceived as a racist/ xenophobe. Especially online when people can't tell if u r kidding or being a jack ass. To me it's a "safe" soft form of internet bullying. I don't believe in being PC but I don't believe in offending others either.

What WAS offensive was the insinuation that Bricio was making inappropriate/against NCAA regulation demands in her recruitment and that is why Texa$/other schools missed out on her.
