The conspiracy theorist in me says that the NCAA would really like to take Hawaii out of the 16 seeds and avoid flying 3 teams out there. OTH there are not enough qualifying teams in the Minnesota-Iowa State area to fill two subregionals there either. What's an selection committee to do anyway? I could see a possible situation of Hawai'i flying out to face an unseeded team such as North Carolina, Dayton, Ohio State, Purdue.. The Rainbow Wahine probably wouldn't be very happy about that. When Hawaii isn't seeded, doesnt the committee usually send them somewhere for 1st and 2nd rounds where they can take a nonstop flight (Seattle, Los Angeles, San Jose, etc.)?

Yes but I was saying IF Hawai'i was seeded and not hosting, they would be shipeed to one of those unseeded teams. I think USC has a seed - and so does Washington even though they lost to ASU. I think 'i IF Hawai'i is unseeded, heading to LA or Seattle in a second round matchup is likely. I did overlook San Diego. Maybe seeded Hawai'i would face a dangerous unseeded Torero team on their home floor.

Thanks for sharing that. I still think the committee's top 16 national seeds will closely follow the RPI rankings (but, as of what date?); so, based on this: 1 Stanford 2 Penn State 3 Texas 4 Louisville 5 UCLA 6 Nebraska 7 Kansas 8 Florida State 9 Minnesota 10 BYU 11 Florida 12 Oregon 13 Texas A&M 14 North Carolina 15 Southern California 16 Hawaii If the above is used, some "shifting" is required at the top as #3 Texas and #6 Nebraska arent allowed based on both hosting regionals; so, I'd imagine NU gets moved up/down one slot. I'd say they get moved up on slot to #5. Consequently, UCLA would get moved down one spot to#6. Berkeley Regional (1) Stanford vs. (16) Hawai'i (8) Florida State vs. (9) Minnesota Omaha Regional (4) Louisville vs. (13) Texas A&M (5) Nebraska vs. (12) Oregon West Lafayette Regional (2) Penn State vs. (15) Southern California (7) Kansas vs. (10) BYU Austin Regional (3) Texas vs. (14) North Carolina (6) UCLA vs. (11) Florida I'd go with this as the Regional seedings: I think Texas gets punished a little bit for their ISU loss (yeah, yeah, I know committee decisions already made, blah, blah, blah). Berkeley Regional (1) Stanford vs. (16) Hawai'i (8) Florida State vs. (9) Minnesota Austin Regional (4) Texas vs. (13) Texas A&M (5) Louisville vs. (12) Oregon West Lafayette Regional (2) Penn State vs. (15) Southern California (7) Kansas vs. (10) Florida Omaha Regional (3) Nebraska vs. (14) North Carolina (6) UCLA vs. (11) BYU

Any chance Trojans or Bruins will host the first round playoffs?

Any chance Trojans or Bruins will host the first round playoffs? I'm hoping both of them will host. Teams that could be sent their way: Hawai'i California San Diego San Diego State Saint Mary's Santa Clara Pepperdine Oklahoma has a history Arizona State

Haley would throw a fit. Sealy probably would too. A potential second round match of two top 10 AVCA teams is dumb. It has happened before but unlikely.

All seeded teams get to host as long as they put in a viable bid.

They should follow the rules which are that regionalization does not play into the seeding. If they tweak it specifically just so as not to allow one team to host, they would be pretty lame. But, yes, I share your suspicions.

Actually that happened when Hawaii WAS a seeded team but with the rule change last year allowing them to host if they are seeded, it should avoid the usual USC, Washington in the second round scenario. If Hawaii isn't seeded, they have usually gone to the West Coast in recent years but they have also been sent to CSU, Texas, Louisville in the past for sub-regionals (all post 911).

A lot of us had assumed Texas A&M was not going to be seeded, thereby almost a shoe-in to be sent to Austin for 1st and 2nd round games. But, if A&M is seeded, you have two host schools in very close proximity, with not a lot of other nearby schools in the tourney.
Best I can see as candidates to be sent to Austin (and College Station) would be:
Central Arkansas Arkansas Tulsa Jackson State New Mexico State

Would love to see Tyler Henderson in person.

I doubt it matters to the committee if someone "throws a fit". It's not like these coaches can retaliate.

BTW: some Texas fan posted on a thread last week a "dear A&M athletic director....please make your program better so you can get a seed......and you don't have to come to Austin every year for sub-regional.....". Well, they have a legitimate chance to get a seed. Now its up to the committee to come through.

Nice work Trojansc. But can you use a better color for the bubble teams??? Can't read the *pink* color.
I like Southie's seeding and bracket better. Good work.

Texas A&M beats Tennessee and therefor should host? Nah. Their record against the other top 20 hoping to seed/host is 1-3, with losses to Tennessee, Florida and USC. Only had to play Florida once, and lost. Lost twice to Kentucky, so lost 4 of five to top three teams in conference. Did beat Auburn, LSU, Xavier and especially Missouri twice and Arkansas twice. But Missouri and Arkansas your big wins? A better resume than Washington? Got some trouble seeing it. And that RPI looks suspect. The NCAA had them 18 last week, and a Tennessee win moves them up 5 places?
