I'm Thinking of Ending Things. Better than Synecdoche and Anomalisa, but still takes a lot of stamina to watch. I liked it, maybe? I didn’t really understand it. It did take a lot of stamina to watch though, and for that, I give myself a pat on the back.

Busy movie weekend with wifey out of town.
Watched The Accountant and The Town with Ben Affleck. Both were decent movies, good action. Made me wonder if he’s doing these action films because of Matt Damon’s success with the Jason Bourne movies.
Bad Boys for Life, nice continuation from the previous two movies. Pretty much the same old same old, except that Smith and Lawrence are getting a bid old and out of shape (Lawrence, that is). Still some good action in this movie, definitely a possibility for a fourth.
Mortal...now this is an interesting movie. People are dying in a small Norwegian town because of a homeless man, who turns out to be a young American. Authorities found out he became homeless after visiting relatives and everyone was killed and the farm burned down. Except he didn’t do anything to kill people, just have supernatural powers obtained while visiting his relatives and he cannot control the lightning that’s killing people. Throughout the movie he, a female Norwegian family case worker and the town’s police chief searches for answers...could he be a God turned mortal? Take the clues: Norway, lightning, God and you can figure out where it’s heading. The end of the movie surely means a sequel is to follow.

Just watched Jumanji The Next Level. Storyline was ok, still a fun movie. And I loved how they continue to pay tribute to the original Jumanji by bringing in a support character for a cameo appearance.
The Deer Hunter...didn’t like it much. Spent too much time on nothing (Stevie’s wedding) and not enough time on others. Last hour of the movie was just not interesting.

As with many other wars, there were a lot of people who came home from Vietnam with what we now call PTSD and/or other mental scars.

Train to Busan: Peninsula
Suppose to be the sequel to the original, but really diverged from the original storyline. It’s been 4 years since the outbreak and a former South Korean soldier is hired by a Hong Kong gangster to go back into Seoul and retrieve a truckload of US Dollars. Not a bad movie, lots of action...think WWZ mixed with Fast and Furious and add a touch Mad Max and you’ll have an idea of what this movie is like.

Saw the trailer for Songbird on YouTube. It’s the year 2022 and a pandemic forced the entire US into a lockdown. Thought I saw or heard COVID-23. Didn’t take Hollywood long to cash in on what’s going on now.

Recently watched dr. No in remembrance of Sean Connery and then watched my fair lady - Oscar for best picture in 1964 and from here to eternity - best picture in 1953. Frank Sinatra won best supporting actor and Donna Reed best supporting actress. That movie also featured Montgomery Clift, Ernest Borgnine, Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr. Classics in b&w.

Watched Just Mercy recently, story about Bryan Stevenson representing the wrongly condemned in the South after graduating from Harvard. Pretty good story, quite compelling!

Just watched The Bodyguard for the first time in years. Whitney Houston was so good in this movie, and her singing was phenomenal! Sad to wonder how her life would have played out had she not married Bobby Brown, whether she had the drug addiction before being with him. Huge loss to the music world when she faded from site, let alone her untimely death.

The Town is a good movie, though I'd rank it third among Affleck-directed movies behind Argo and Gone Baby Gone.

Over the holidays, watched a couple of movies. Saw The Way Back with Ben Affleck. It kind of felt like what Hoosiers might have been if Dennis Hopper's character had been the head coach. Watched Ford v Ferrari. Enjoyed it a lot. Also saw Clooney's new movie, Midnight Sky. I thought the movie dragged on a lot. It was just okay.

The Ford versus Ferrari sounds like a great movie
