Not surprising to see West Coast Teams at Top 3 spots pre-season.
Florida State returns three All Americans for this season: Jace Pardon Aurora Newgard Sarah Wickstrom
Looks like 2 players from indoor team to be on starting teams: Libero,Katie Mosher Setter,Sarah Wickstrom
All other players are Sand Only players.Deep across all teams. Pardon, Newgard, Pelliteri sisters(Nina and Stephanie,Pavels and Julie Brown, Joyce and Yildirin
How the coach will pair them up -not sure yet at this point.
First Tourney: March 7-9th in St. Augustine,Fla. Will be important event as it will prepare them for travel to California the next week when they face: Long Beach State,UCLA, USC

Pleasantly surprised at the number five position. UH has crazy potential.

Nebraska at 7 seems a bit high to me, but I suppose this whole chart is pretty voodoo, given the minimal history to work from.

Hawaii takes LBS 3-2. Only other upset was LMU over Stanford 4-1.

Where is that Stanford fan that said Stanford was going to be a top team? Ha.

Did Bo get better or did Long Beach just lose a lot of their top players? Bo didn't even play in the top 2 pairs for UCLA last season.

Where is that Stanford fan that said Stanford was going to be a top team? Ha. Actually it wasn't a Stanford fan who said that. I believe he was a Hawaii fan. After the first two days Stanford could start out at 0-5 or 0-6 depending on how many matches they play today. Its good Stanford doesn't have any more matches for two weeks. They need time to practice.

So clear that the gap between the teams relying exclusively (or primarily on their indoor roster and those with a good stable of sand-only players is huge. Doesn't matter how good an all-around indoor player you are (e.g., Jordan Burgess), you're going to get schooled by players who logged the sand time.
Agree with an earlier post, that schools like Stanford don't field NCAA teams without trying to compete at the highest level. Which means recruiting sand players.

Did Bo get better or did Long Beach just lose a lot of their top players? Bo didn't even play in the top 2 pairs for UCLA last season. LBSU lost half their team to graduation, including the 2nd best pair in the country. I don't know if losing their coach right before the first match (he took an assistant job at Oregon) is helping much either. I think LBSU will struggle this year - relative to the success they had in 2012 and 2013, that is.
