Hey Toad...did PSU beat the in credible Vassar tonight to advance to the EIVA final...? PSU could play their reserves and waltz to the final 4... don't play it off like they are the best team in the country.

Pacific had 6 all conference players... Hawaii did not. Pacific had a better setter, a better libero, 1 better middle, and 1 better outside. Hawaii beat the tigers with the tigers being on the ROAD 3 times... w/ the tigers playing tough all 3 times. In stockton, or a neutral site, things would have been quite different. Any team will tell you that it is tough to come into hawaii w/ the time change, extreme fan turnout, and large facility. Pacific beat good teams all year, as did hawaii. It is my opinion that they are better. They also had better coaching... both tactically and dancing. Are you serious ? and you call Costas' behavior babyish? you are doing the Tigers a disservice by coming out here and making EXCUSES for them, it's pathetic. How many times have the Tigers beaten the Warriors this season ? Yeah that's what I thought, get over it.

If a team is good, they're good away and not just at home.
Great players play their best no matter where they are. Personally I don't think Hawaii is that hard to play in, if anything playing on TV and in front of so many people should inspire you to play better. Though all the island food you're pigging out on might weigh you down come game time.
If Pacific plays that badly at Hawaii they wouldn't have played any better at Pepperdine or Long Beach.

Some of you fans do a good job "trash-talking." You crack me up. ;D I was sitting with the Hawaii fans tonight watching a very good match, especially in the 2nd game when UH was down 17-10....then came back to lose a heart breaker 37-35...it was an exciting game. In fact, all night was a see saw battle...no runaway. I'd say that the hard hitting was pretty even thoughout the match (I'm not talking about kills), but it seemed that the Cougars were everywhere digging the Warrior's killer hits...unbelievable. BYU's defense and timely blocks were the key to the win. There were some awesome rallies and it seemed that UH was very surprised at the tenacious play from the Provo Boys. Hawaii seemed to favor the outside hits all night, because I don't remember too many MB quicksets taking Thomas out of the mix. Costas,Tony, and Eyal were hitting some "scorcher hits" but surprisingly, BYU came up with them. Boy...that would discourage anyone, but the Warriors never gave up...fighting to the end. I congratulate both BYU and Hawaii for a great match and season. It's a shame that Hawaii won't be at the Finals, since the MPSF has the BEST #1, #2, #3 teams in the nation! Hey Barefoot...I was looking forward to your T-Leaf skirt...I have the legs for it. Hey Bookum...always good to see you. Sorry we won't be together at the Finals...and I'm sorry I didn't win one of your shirts. Aloha, Brudder.

The BYU coach had a great game plan, they knew what shots the warriors would hit thats why the defenders were digging hawaii all night. By the way I am a Hawaii fan Its time to get a new coach ;D

Congrats Crusin'. Don't fret brother, I'll send you a skirt if you want one ;D.
I don't know what else to say aside from BYU played one hell of a match. They passed, dug, and covered their hitters very well. I didn't see the stats, but it seemed like they had way more oppurtunities than Hawai'i. Their transitional game was flat out marvelous. The Warriors hung tight though, a couple of points here and there, and it could've been a different match. These one and done matches are really like rolling the dice, you just never know what will come out. Tonight BYU threw more passes than Hawai'i, they held the dice longer and are moving on, the Warriors end their season... Champions, in our book anyway.

Thanks Cory, Maybe someday, I heard the head coaching position at UH doesn't pay well ( BYU pays better)... By the way you think it would be possible to hire my son as an assistant coach All in fun, Kauai boy ;D

I would also like to congratulate the Warriors for an awesome season and wish the best of luck to the four seniors in their future whether it is in volleyballl or something else.
Another congratulations goes out to the BYU Cougars who played an awesome match tonight and had an answer for everything the Warriors gave them.
I don't want to take anything away from BYU because they played an awesome match, but the Warriors didn't seem like they came to play today. The only players that I thought played their "A" game today was Tony Ching and Daniel Rasay. Eyal Zimet came through at times but started to struggle at the end of the game.
All you guys are saying that it is not like a captain to have a bad game, come now if you are human you have bad games every once in a while no one is perfect and unfortunately for Kimo Tuyay it was today that he had a bad game. Eyal Zimet has been captain for the last two years and all though he is a consistent player, he had bad matches here and there too. So captains are allowed to have bad matches here and there and we can't expect big matches out of them every night out. They already have enough pressure of keeping up the team so just take it easy on Kimo. I'm sure he'll make a good captain.
Once again I would like to congratulate the BYU Cougars for a phenomenal game tonight and good luck against Pepperdine.
And to the Warriors you still can keep your head high as you guys had an awesome season and we Warriors fans are still proud. Good luck to the returning players next year.
GO WARRIORS!!!

i'm still hoping that the ncaa at-large pick is similar to the women's seeding of the last tournament: crap. meaning, i hope they pick hawaii (even though, it probably should be byu).
note: not dissing hawaii at all. those of you who know me, know i'm a fan.
and tigfan, are you seriously saying that you think pacific is better? they played the same teams over the season. if pacific was better, shouldn't they have been seeded higher than 6? and shouldn't they have beaten hawaii in the quarterfinals? that statement is a bunch of crap.

TIGFAN:
PSU beat Vasser in the quarters and Princeton in the semis. Get your facts straight. It's not Penn State's fault that they are geographically isolated from the best competition. Everyone should be happy that there is decent east coast representation in men's volleyball.
And just to remind everyone, PSU beat BYU at BYU this season, so the Final Four should be an interesting matchup.

As far as volleyball captains go, look at the 94(?) UCLA team that was captained by Eric Sullivan. Now that team had Nygaard and, I think, Nihipali, among other players. I remember wonder how Sullivan, who looked to be the worst hitter on the court, could leat that team. Well, lookie lookie, he manages to go on to captain for team USA.
Just goes to show you that while it helps to be the best player out there, being a good leader is enough to be named team captain. It is like politics. You need to be able to get people to follow, make as much noise as possible, but know when to shut your mouth. I think Tuyay is pretty good at that.

I get it Tig! Don't worry. We are all competitors....some on different levels.
Here's what I COULD say: Peterson and staff out-coached Wilton and gang! Maybe - But i think the BYU team executed better and flustered the chance for a balanced attack. Maybe Hawaii just did't execute their game plan.
Timo - did not come to play and poor decision making cost him a chance at a NC. does that mean it is good that they have Beckwith coming in to save the day? Some hardliners could say so. But then I could say that the PSU setter blew his chances last year as he did not play well and made poor sets and selections...and this was from a Team Captain and best setter in the nation.
Were the Hawaii MB's exposed for being the weak link....maybe...maybe not
Blah Blah ....yada yada
The point is we all have had our biased.....sometimes blind biased opinions on every team this year.
Some Hawaii fans, which seem to dominate this board, are defiant and loyal to the end. Bravo!
One Pacific fan who , is defiant of the UOP and continually tries to find happiness in the bashing PSU,Lewis and other non-Californian schools....by justifying making the MPSF playoffs is better that making the final 4 for teams coming from the East and Mid-west.
All these are opinions....all part of the game. Laugh...scream...enjoy!
I have tried to look at it from the point that the top 4 teams in the nations will be representing my sport and demonstating it at the highest level.
Every team.....i repeat EVERY team has demonstrated weaknesses this year(some more than others) but EVERY team left standing has also demonstrated incredible strengths.
That is a fact!
Now with that being said with one 5 game RALLY match to win and move on......All these teams have a chance to claim that National Championship. Odds may be in favor for some.
Coaching, Experience, Execution, heart, rocks, and the all-powerful momentum.
Honestly, with PSU and the teams that the MIVA has been putting on the floor the past couple years, we are looking at a True National Final 4.
I support it and eagerly awaiting its outcome.
But I also love the hype....that is awesome.
Admittedly, I bashed you TIG-FAN before under an assumed name...i had my cocktail! thanks and.i apologise.....but will continue to get in your dome! **********************
