Hi Volleyball fans, Here is your chance to cast a vote (or ten!) of the top teams you'd like to see in 2004. If you can, leave a note with each team with a reason why you're interested in seeing the team. I'll go first. Top Ten Teams I Want to See in 2004# 1) Hawaii - You can't live in Honolulu and not live and die Wahine. GO Bows!! Looking forward to seeing my gals light everyone up! I still don't think you all expect the surprises coming. # 2) Idaho - You can't be from Idaho and not live and die Vandals! Go Vandals! I am very eager to see how Idaho shapes up as a team next season. I expect nothing less than a top 20 season. # 3) UCLA - UCLA doesn't have UltraSparC as a player. What they do have is a very talented young core returning from an elite 8 performance. Perhaps a Final Four this year? # 4) Nebraska - Pavan, Stalls, Saleamua, Elmer... list goes on, let's see how Cook puts it together, there is enough talent to go all the way (even as young as they are). # 5) Colorado State - I think this team will take it to the next level next season. Heads up NACWAA participants!! # 6) Washington - Jimmy is making things happen! What's next? # 7) Minnesota - How will the team look next season without Busse? # 8) USC - I am very interested to see how Miss Venski and Miss Gysin, among others, fit into roles for the Ladies of Troy... Speaking of "Troy," I can't wait for the movie! # 9) Arizona - What will become of this talented group of ladies? Anything less than Elite 8 is a disappointment. I am eager to finally see Glass play (missed her last season at UH). #10) Penn State - I want to see Sam Tortorello set. That's my list. I omitted Florida for personal reasons (I don't care if I ever see that team again). I obviously think they will be very solid though. But that's not what this list is about.

I can't wait for spring volleyball, just 6 or 7 more weeks. I’m beginning to feel a road trip coming on. GO VANDALS '04!!

Top Ten Teams I want to see in 2004
1) Obviously USC as Emily Adams, Keao Burdine and Bibiana Candelas lead the Women of Troy gunning for an unprecedented NCAA Three-peat national championships. The team has the talent to achieve it but the new freshies will have to step up on the floor too.
2) Florida. One of these few years, Florida will get their national championship dues. With solid talents coming in, the team will get even more physical and athletic.
3) Nebraska. Pavan (and Stalls). That alone would make me curious to see this team play.
4) Stanford. Outside of USC, I always like watching the Cardinals. They have excellent outside hitters. I will be curious on how they fill the big gaps in the middle and backrow defense.
5) UCLA. Last chance for the core senior group to make a serious run at the championship. Can they do it? They have good hitters (Brynn Murphy and Brittany Ringels) but I think they lack that mental edge. Btw, seniors are 0-7 against the Women of Troy. Can they break this losing streak? I hope not!
6) Arizona. This should be the year that the Arizona team grows up (no more excuse of being a young team). It will be interesting to see how motivated they are after disappointing loss in the 1st round, and how their passings and mental game have improved this season.
7) Minnesota. After watching them in the Pyramid, I have come around to like watching Bratford and Martin.
8) Cal. This team has been improving over the last few years, and 2-points away from beating USC at Haas Pavilion. It will be interesting to see whether Jerkov will be cleared to return (after professional stint in Europe), and if she is not, how the team copes without her.
9) LBSU. I just hope that this team will end its back luck of injuries for the past 2 seasons.
10) Hawaii. It will be interesting to watch Hawaii rebuilds its team. Will it be painful (outside of their easy WAC conference) and how many losses will it absorb with 6 new starters. In particular, I am interested in watching Susie Boogard -- is she the real deal or just a pretender?

More ways they can surprise: 1) Lose every single match in 2004 2) Lose every single rally in 2004 3) Start out the season with 63 consecutive service errors 4) Change the name to the Rainbow Rotini 5) Suit up Costas Theokaridis 6) Suit up BiK 7) Move the franchise to Decatur, Illinois 8) Raise the nets to 12 foot 9 inches

1. Hawai'i - What changes? Cayley hitting from the right? Katie Carlson and Raeceen Woolford as middle blockers? Susie Boogaard as the libero? Alicia Arnott as a defensive specialist? Ashley Watanabe at the outside position?

1. USC with the Vision girls 2. CAL without Mia..I think the girls will do pretty well without her..maybe a slow start but will do ok 3. Nebraska..would like to see that Canadian girl 4. Loyola Marymount with my favorite setter: Nicole Oehlman 5. Hawaii: never had the pleasure of seeing them; sorry I missed seeing Kim 6. Arizona: missed them when they played CAL, but did see them the previous year when they played Stanford 7. WVU because when I went to school there I didn't even know they had a volleyball team! 8. Santa Clara ..how will their freshman setter do?

2. CAL without Mia..I think the girls will do pretty well without her..maybe a slow start but will do ok Hey stott - are you making an assumption that Mia Jerkov is not coming back from what has been written here or do you have other information that has not been posted? Please enlighten us. Despite running the risk of rekindling the old thread, I'm going to say that I still expect Mia to be playing for Cal next year. I just can't see her doing such a thing with a year of schooling left - esp when there's nothing going NT-wise for her country until end of 2005.
